The vice president Joe Biden has already got the blessing from our current president to nominate himself for the upcoming presidential election.
But nonetheless he hasn't done that yet.
According to the Guardian Biden is not ready yet.
I wonder what must happen in short times for him to get ready?
It's absolutely obvious that he's not becoming president, but at least he could try.

I still suspect that Biden is waiting to see what else happens to Hillary headed into October when she has to deal with Congress. But, for all I know he could very well announce this week sometime and this could come down to which audience he announces to. If Biden does run it would send Hillary right over the edge.

He has tried before unsuccessfully. He would be a lot more fun than Hillary in the race.

I think he is a team player. I don't think he would jeopardize his party's chance of winning. I think he does not want to enter into a slug fest with Hillary only to go through the same with the republican candidate right afterwards. While a lot of these qualities would make for a good president willing to work with both parties it is not good for winning the presidency.

Unfortunately we will most likely end up with 2 self centered power hungry candidates to choose from such as Clinton or Trump. Candidates that have no interest in the people only their own vanity.

Show loyalty to Clinton and wait till she falls. Why risk the acrimony?

German radio quipped today that he is an excellent man and politician. The only problem he has is that at least three Republicans can each beat him.

It's open season in the primaries. He would not be jeopardizing his party's anything.

He is probably waiting to see how much funding he can line up now that he is a late comer to this game and Hillary already has funding out the wazoo.

If it ends up being Biden vs Trump, then Biden might win a close race.

Otherwise it's hard to say.

I would say Biden is at least as popular with the Dem's as is anyone else. Hillary has been losing steam lately. She is starting to look like lipstick on a pig again.

Biden would be difficult to beat if he wins the nomination. He proved in the VP debate against Ryan (which Biden won easily) that he knows his stuff and can debate with anyone. Plus he has something Hillary lacks--likeability. But dems are so certain Hillary is a shoe-in that they are likely to stick with her to the bitter end. But she wont win a general. She isn't likeable, she isn't popular, she isn't a good campaigner and she isn't honest. You cant win with that.

Biden has the reputation of being the comedic dolt (from Scranton) - no one takes him seriously enough for him to win the candidacy and I think he knows it.

While I'm perfectly aware of how the sausage is made, I'm irritated that the press is giving more coverage to a guy who can't decide whether or not to run for president than Bernie Sanders, who can only be described as "balls deep" in his presidential run.

You don't know if you have the "emotional energy" to run for President, Biden? Fine, then **** off and quit hogging the air time of people who know they want to be President.

Trump is certainly someone that has not yet convinced me.

he would be a good candidate with VP experience, but it's exactly like he's been saying;
he has to want it, and with the death of his son, it would be time away from his family

This is probably nothing more than a lull between gaffes. He's likely trying to figure out how best to articulate the announcement to elicit the greatest entertainment value from it.

Good morning, Annata. :2wave:

We've been told that his son wanted him to try, but you are correct . . . he has to want it. I know from personal experience that the death of a grown child is not something that is emotional easy to cope with. He'll make the best decision he can, and we'll have to wait to see what it is. I like him, and I wish him well, whatever he decides to do.

I think he's waiting for hell to freeze over, that would be the only chance he might have.

Agree! Hillary is losing all her positions quite at the time Biden is on the race.
But I'm not sure that Biden will be elected when there's Bernie at the row.
I was really afraid there will be no alternative to Hillary/Jeb oppositin.
Luckily there is

Trump is certainly someone that has not yet convinced me.

The GOP never ceases to amaze me, and their patrons are equally bewildering.

I can see why they put all their money on McCain in 2008 -- that was easy to understand.

Then once McCain stuck his foot in his mouth about "the fundamentals of our economy are sound!" just before it crashed, the GOP was stuck with him -- too late to get off the runaway train then.

I cannot conceive of why the GOP wasted all that money and the entire 2012 presidential campaign on Romney though. Romney was a RINO who ended up offending the Independents with his unabated lies.

So this Trump thing with the GOP is equally unfathomable right now.

You must ask yourself whether the Independents would vote for Bernie. I rather doubt it very much. Too "liberal."

The GOP and the DEM's do not elect the president -- they simply throw in their votes for their own side.

It is the mass of Independents who elects the president.

I think it is ego.

Biden took this job as Obama's big brother to assure the DEM's and the Independents of adult supervision in The White House.

Now Biden feels like he has been babysitting long enough and wants to be paid back.

Just ego -- nothing else.

While there are additional political calculations at work, do not underestimate a more pressing issue:

His own mourning and his relationship with his family.

Biden and Clinton both hold the same positions on virtually everything the Democratic establishment wants. The only way he will get into the race is if he thinks he can/should attack her credibility which would cause a nasty primary. He may not want to get into that.

In that case I believe we can congratulate Trump already.
If the election day was today he would become the american next president.
On the other hand I doubt that the independents are those who really make the choice. That's too silly!
