What if School Shooter is a Cop?

An incredibly silly idea.

what is truly idiotic is that half of his posts are lamentations over the fact that the second amendment precludes his wet dream from ever becoming reality and he further admits the second amendment cannot be repealed. Then he engages in constant demands guns be banned.

it is akin to someone who made an error while driving and harmed someone, demanding that he can go back in time and therefore, be granted the chance say not to run the red light

Why is it ?

If you make all guns inactive, you'll end gun violence.

You should also note that in the UK, you can legally own a firearm that has been de-activated. You can put it in a glass case and mount it on the wall for you to admire from your couch.

There, you can have your cake and eat it.

Incorrect.

I guarantee you that I can beat someone bloody with any number of firearms....

Go on then Rucker...tell us all how making all guns inert would be a silly idea.

You can have all the guns you want...you just can't shoot anyone with them.

Sound like a good compromise. You get to keep your guns (along with your flags, baseball caps and apple pie) but you can't hurt anyone with them.

It is already against the law to shoot people in certain circumstances...

Because it's an idea that will never come to pass. Who has rendered every gun in their country inert?

Must. Defend. My. Stupid. Guns.

Merry Christmas! Don't shoot yourselves.

...or maybe not.

people who are shooting themselves on Christmas are beyond your help, Calamity. and not deterred by either honestly believed or trolling anti gun comments

Uh, the op isn't saying "no armed cops." It is, however, demonstrating that the gun nut solution to the school shooting problem is ****ing retarded.

You of all people shouldn't be calling anyone nuts.

You constantly demonstrate that you are a mile wide and a inch thick on about every topic, and offer nothing but snark to any logical debate.

What if the next school shooter is a cop? It's not exactly out of the question.

Florida sheriff's deputy who was hired as school security kills 3 family members and himself

I guess we can send thoughts and prayers. But, let's face it. Hiring and arming hundreds of thousands of inadequately vetted people to patrol our schools is not going to solve a goddamned thing. And, it might actually just make things worse.

What we need is sensible gun control. Fast.

I am for sensible gun control. I say we take guns away from everyone that is going to go out kill people with them and leave everyone else alone. That is sensible gun control.

Yep.

No problems with having an inert firearm in your home.

In fact maybe that would be a back door way of circumventing the 2nd amendment. Declare guns to be unsafe and mandate that all guns be made "fire-safe".
ie: they cannot be made to fire a projectile.

That is fine with me. I prefer a ball bearing and a wrist rocket or a mini cross bow. Nice and quiet plus cheaper.

Under $40.00 and works on vampires as well.

I have a few of those-used to practice my pistol skills in my apartment when in Graduate school and law school. Still have them -lots of fun

They are fun. This particular one is 80lb. You need a pretty decent back stop to stop it. It will go right through a sheetrock wall or a hollow core door. I found that layers of heavy cardboard spaced about an inch apart do a great job of stopping them. I save my water heater cartons. With some 1 x 2 pine I can make a target about 5' x 7' for my garage. Usually it is large enough for friends that are expert shots until they miss even a target that large. I am still debating getting one of those high powered pellet rifles. They are basically a 22 with a light projectile.

Why would we disarm cops? The op has nothing to do with regular cops. Try reading it.
What's the difference between a "regular" cop and a retired one aside from having a job?

I was a staff pro for Excalibur Crossbows before they were bought by Bowtech and started going nuts on how much speed they could get. I shoot for Mission Crossbows now in 3D and shoot custom designed rigs for target that are a combination of Australian, German, Estonian and American parts. So I have all sorts of backstops. what I uses is the 24x24 sheets of foam that places sell as "broad head targets" and put a piece of carpet on the back of it

I get the cardboard for free and it doesn't seem to damage the bolts or arrows for that matter. I also use it for shooting my Benjamin pellet pistol. The big sheet is the back stop to catch those wild shots. I was thinking of buying the foam at Home Depot and making the actual targets out of that. The foam can get pricey in large pieces. I have found out that the further apart you space the cardboard the better it works.

something like this: you can get them cheaper at big box stores I suspect

Delta McKenzie Arrowstop Target

It was a leading and rhetorical question, if you couldn’t tell.

Leading question: "a question that prompts or encourages the desired answer."

Rhetorical question: "a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer."

Why am I not surprised that you combine these?

The problem is I am on a budget. It does not take long to burn through a few hundred having fun. Plus if the democrats get back in I might have to start stocking up on magazines, and whatever else they want to ban that will do nothing to stop a nut from killing people.

A retired cop is probably less likely to go postal. The pressure of being a cop is no longer a factor. Police have lots of problems related to their job.

Well, then you agree that arming crazy people to protect kids from school shootings is a bad idea.
Well, then you agree we need to be talking about mental health reform for fixing this problem, not gun control.

It's a gun problem first and foremost.

Mental health is a problem we have to deal with and will always be a problem we have to deal with. That is a topic for another section.

Guns are not a problem we have always to deal with. We can solve the problem.
We can ban guns.

There is not a single, rational reason why this should and could not be done.
You're still just mad you lost the war. Sour grapes.

Yep.

That would be as ridiculous as allowing guns but banning bullets, as was once suggested in the Rolling Stone magazine as a back door way of circumventing the 2nd amendment.

The problem isn't gun violence the problem is criminal violence.

You should also note that in the UK, you can legally own a firearm that has been de-activated. You can put it in a glass case and mount it on the wall for you to admire from your couch.

In the UK you can also legally own fully functional firearms, even handguns if they've got over a certain barrel length and over a certain overall length.

I already have all the guns I want and don't hurt anyone with them.

You've got all the guns you want? There's always something coming out that's newer and possibly better so if you're a serious gun collector you might never have all the guns you want.
