What happens when the National Guard leaves

Not the point of the OP. Learn reading comprehension. I said in it to take out the point whether they should be there or not. If crime goes up right when the NG leaves, was the mission a success. If crimes stays low after they leave, does the ends justify the means? Do you need me to repeat it a third time?

Yes, repetition is a helpful learning tool.
Maybe if you make your point again, I will get it.
You still seem to have a problem with the NG being there in the first place.
If you're worried about something, you should get it out.

To enhance learning and retention, consider the benefits of repetition:
  • Reinforces memory by strengthening neural connections.
  • Improves skill acquisition through practice and familiarity.
  • Increases confidence in performing tasks or recalling information.
  • Aids in long-term retention by moving information to long-term memory.
  • Helps identify gaps in knowledge through repeated exposure.
  • Encourages mastery of complex concepts over time.

National laws will be tough to come by . . . absolutely true. When folks like myself--people who grew up with and carried firearms--are fed up with the senseless slaughter, some kind of regulatory change will eventually happen. Sadly, I have no idea how to hasten that day to come.
No one has an idea of how to address 400 million guns in this country.
Especially when a young trans-gender nutcase can buy three guns legally and then decide to attack young children in a church.

I think I read somewhere they've taken a thousand criminals off the streets so far. If the NG left today, that means there's a thousand less criminal roaming around DC.

Do you think there's another thousand people waiting to take their place as soon as the NG leaves?
How many of each class if criminals? If they are all of the violent and those who cause propty crimes, that is a significant number. But if the bulk of that are illegal immigrants or vagrants then things may return to what was normal.

What happens when the National Guard leaves DC?

Other people will have to pick up trash 🚮 on the sidewalks and in the parks.

I'm not so simple minded as to constantly broadcast gloom and doom like others who want see the attempt to further reduce crime fail so you can blame Trump.
So I don't predict disaster in order to pander to wishes of Chicken Littles who want to see the sky fall simply to be right. Sue me.
You post as the chicken little. There is no crime that warrants such drastic action.

What the guard doing? Giving directions to tourists. You feel this is a good use of the guard?

What about their jobs and families?

Have you EVER been in a city? EVER?

You simply want everyone to be as negative and pessimistic as you are.
And if they aren't thinking just like you, then you hurl personal insult just to show how self righteous you really are.
Is that how you win arguments in your barrio?

13 year old's post
I suppose this is progress

The NG is there to obey orders. There's is not to reason why.
Why would you care about their jobs and families? Do you know any of them?
If crime stats are going down, then what else matters to you?

Crime is going down? What an ignorant statement.

Why would I care about them? Because I am not a sick cultist.

That makes two of us. But I don't care about them missing their families or their jobs.
See? It's working. Crime stats keep going down. Now you can safely support Trump's bid for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The occupation is costing a million dollars a day and people aren't ****ing going outside while their city is occupied so the local economy is tanking.

This is like "why weren't there any school shootings during covid" type logic.

That is your wishful thinking. You have no proof to back up that statement.

If I were you in D.C., I would stick close to the NG troops so you don't get mugged or worse.

Do you think there's another thousand people waiting to take their place as soon as the NG leaves?
Yes. Among other things...

First, violent crime decreased not because of arrests, but because of NG presence. So, once the NG leaves, the violent crime will go back up as it doesn't seem (according to various reports from various agencies) that many arrested were arrested for violent crimes. Not saying there weren't arrests of violent criminals (or criminals with a violent past), but most likely they were not violent offenders.

Gang violence and gang-related crimes as well as drug-related crimes are what are problems in cities (red or blue). There has not been reports of gangs being mass arrested or in numbers that would diminish them. Theya re just laying low because they know that they can go back to business as usual once the NG leaves

Also, most of the NG appear NOT to have been deployed in mostly at-risk neighborhoods like in SE & SW. A few patrols certainly, but they have been deployed in mostly NW & NE where it is more touristy and white and not that affected by violent crime or drug crime. Again, the exaggeration of the administration over the crime of DC is notable. If they were really serious, the NG would be assisting in force in SE & SW. Which leads to the next point...

They can't arrest anyone. By law. They can detain until local authorities arrive or do crowd control, but that's really it. And now they are in NW & NE doing beautification missions. So, while their presence has had an effect, the real effect is only that assisted in areas that are not that really victimized by violent and/or drug crimes.

It should also be noted that courts are throwing out cases with misdemeanors and there is a growing movement of grand juries not indicting. This is in part of arresting so many over offenses that are small and meaningless (for the most part) the courts are now overwhelmed...so a lot of these folks are just having their cases dismissed and allowed back on the street. As usual, the Trump administration did not think to bolster the actual court system prior to doing this. In other words...this was doomed to fail before it even started.

Side Note - I deal with distributors out of DC on a daily basis, I was born in DC, grew up in the Metro area and worked for years in DC (including the Smithsonian) before moving to Baltimore: crime is always a worry in any city, and it is always good to be aware when you move about in one...but this nonsense was not warranted. And once the NG units leaves, you will see how badly this plan failed in its mission...but succeeded in the REAL mission of duping those who don't know any better to get optics from the base.

But hey...what else should anyone expect from Dear Leader Trump and his MAGA Socialist Party?

That would be especially true given the NG troops don't go into Southeast DC that is the long and very long time center of the most and worst crimes Trump-MAGAs are always hollering about. NG grunts are kept in the safest areas of DC which is the center where the WH and monuments are to include the National Mall, lower Northwest DC -- and also Southwest DC that's along the Potomac to include the Watergate and Kennedy Center. The Capitol Hill area of townhouse residences and the Georgetown section of lower NW are pristine. DC NG know they've got tit assignments so they're in no big rush to leave just yet.

MAGAs #1 job is to keep it going for Trump.

Wear out the good guys.

Trump-MAGAs never tire of winning in this way, since 2015.

Winning, yes. Since 2015. Trump's Long March through the institutions, mores, rule of law -- to torching the Constitution.

The NG are enjoying the best of both worlds right now.

They're having tea with tourists and getting high praise for suppressing crime in areas tourists are never taken to. And to which the NG don't go.

Pretty soon the grunts are going to get seriously bored with the whole of it -- tourism tails off sharply after Labor Day. When all those photos with tourists are no more. As this deployment drags on the NG will want to go home. There's no ISIS in DC don't you know. No Taliban and so on. Only MAGAs who think the National Guard works for them.

Trump's Troubles with a miserably bored NG in DC won't take much longer to begin. Criminals for miles around know this too. Lots of new opportunities for new blood.

He’s prepping for Chicago and after that, who knows?

Excellent gloom and doom predictions from Chicken Littles who want Trump to fail WITH EVERYTHING HE TRIES TO DO!
Of course, all troops want to go home. What else is new?

Yeah, rinse and repeat as the NG grunts get bored then have to be pulled out.

No more active duty troops to the cities either given the Marines drew the line with the Generalissimo after the LA deployments of Marine Infantry from Twentynine Palms right nearby.

Trump's authority in this is being challenged in federal district court in LA right now. California is arguing Trump's use of the federalized NG -- and federal Marines -- to assist in law enforcement violates Posse Comitatus, which the judge seems to agree is true. And which is fact.

Your post is tripe.

Trivial.

It has nothing to do with reality. It's armband cynical in fact. Surprised I'm not.
