What happened the last time a U.S. president overrode a state to deploy the National Guard

No he is not. ICE isn't in the streets.
Really?

For those unfamiliar with the viral video that sparked this manhunt, it shows an assailant in a motorcycle helmet throwing rocks into the windshields of ICE vehicles. One agent was injured during the attack, which occurred on Saturday morning. Astonishingly, some in the press tried to paint the attacker in a sympathetic light, describing him as a "demonstrator" and implying that placing him on the FBI Most Wanted List was an unfair escalation.

Shows just how serious this is. Democrat Governors asleep at the switch refusing to deploy the NG. Waltz is another fine example. But Newsome walking in the footsteps of George Wallace.

On an unseasonably chilly but sunny day, March 20, 1965, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson stood on the porch of his Texas ranch and read a telegram he had just sent to Alabama Gov. George Wallace.

"I am calling into federal service selected units of the Alabama National Guard… to help you meet your state responsibilities," Johnson said.

“For more than a week, Johnson and Wallace had been going back and forth about the president's concerns for the safety of Black Alabamians trying to exercise their right to vote and peacefully protest police brutality. “

Wow, this is colossally daft, well done. You're comparing Trump's deployment of the NG to the LA scenario.
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It's too bad LBJ decided to go all in on fighting the Viet Congs. He would have had a hell of a legacy otherwise.

MAGA Jesus is deploying the Guard and the Marines because he wants to pretend he's a tough guy. He apparently seems more interested in using the US military on Americans than on foreign adversaries.

Secretary of Defense Hegseth promised to make the military the “most lethal, elite, and spectacular fighting force on planet earth.” How does domestic usage of the military fulfill this promise if used as law enforcement against Americans?

Trump is protecting ICE from violent rioters. Something Newsome nor Waltz thought was necessary.

Gavin’s failure to act in the name of safety was a non-starter.
So you admit it is a completely different situation that what LBJ faced

Damn those rioters destroying government property.

Yep history repeats. Democrats want their servant class kept around. They want the dollars and the represenation but not have to give services or worry about votes.

It's the new 3/5ths compromise for them.

Can one say Trump overrode Newsome when he never spoke to him about it?
Well, it's @VySky who lives in some weird wacky alternate reality where windmills cause cancer and electric boats attract sharks and water kills magnetism, so of course he'll make up all sorts of wild, wacky and weird things.

Lives were then and now under threat.

So no.
No you feebly trying to compare George Wallace to Gavin Newsom when the situations were completely different.

Its about lives. What do you fail to understand about that?

This is closer to a southern President sending in the National Guard and troops to force segregation throughout the rest of the country.

Would agree it is about protecting lives, both those of ICE and those of the protestors.
But your original OP trying to compare LBJs actions to protect the mostly all black civil rights protestors in Alabama against the all white Alabama law enforcers to what is happening now in LA was just plain Trump minion BS.

Its about lives. What do you fail to understand about that?
But it's not.

Do not ignore states rights. Go in and get the illegals, but wait for the state to ask for fed help on the protesters.
Nothing good will come of ignoring states rights.

And you've been crying since.

Even non-political southern white conservatives hated black people. Why was that?
It was all part of the Democratic party platform that brought people (well some of them) together. Why did Democrays hate black people so much? It's just part of their history when they were the party of slavery.

Northern Democrats had that party platform? Northern Democrats hated black people?

Southern democrats were conservatives. Why did conservatives hate black people so much?
