Do you suppose their agenda has something less to do with preventing violance and more to do with making it harder for honest, law abiding people to buy/own guns?I love how Vermont, with the lowest number of gun deaths per capita in the country, nevertheless gets a D-. You'd think that if they were grading states based on how well they "shield families from gun violence," one of the criteria might be, say, how well they shield families from gun violence.

Anyway, I'm from Ohio, so we get a D-.

RECORD KEEPING
May police maintain gun sale records? No
State law forbids police from keeping any record of gun sales. Police are prohibited from maintaining gun sale records that could be used for gun tracing and criminal investigations. The state has no way of knowing whether people who bought guns in the past have become criminals and are no longer allowed to possess firearms. The lack of gun sale records also makes it very difficult to identify and prosecute gun traffickers or gang members that buy guns in bulk and resell them on the street.
This is an infringement of the right to arms. This is just sad..
I dont have a problem with people owning guns...but I think the police should know who owns what.
This is an infringement of the right to arms.
It also does nothing to affect criminals' access to guns.
And, as noted, VT is the state with the fewest gun deaths per capita -- how has the police not knowing who has a gun been detrimental to the safety of the people of VT?
Simple:Nowhere in the 2nd amendment does it say you have a right to bear arms without the police knowing what arms. If the police require weapon registration, you still get to bear arms...can you elaborate how it is an infringement please?
Simple:
Prior restraint.
Prior restraint is a precondition placed on the exercise of a right not inherent to that right.
Prior Restraint in an infringement.
-Registration is a precondition to the exercise of the right to arms not inherent to the right to arms.
-Registration is Prior Restraint.
-Prior Restraint is an infringement
Thus
-Registration is an in infringement
The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
I'm in Washington with a D+.
i am a little dismayed by this though:
Child Access Prevention Law F NONE
Click on your state and see hoe the Brady Campaign grades your gun laws.
Brady Campaign - State Gun Laws
I can say that I am proud my state almost failed this test - OH got a D-.
I also note that their site isn't current; OH just recentlky changed its laws to prevent local laws from pre-emting state law -- that certainly gets us an F!
Woohooo!
Nowhere in the 2nd amendment does it say you have a right to bear arms without the police knowing what arms. If the police require weapon registration, you still get to bear arms...can you elaborate how it is an infringement please?
that is as stupid as saying the right to vote is not infringed if you have to tell the police who you voted for or telling the police what books you are reading
No, the stupid thing was flapping your jaws before reading further down. I asked for clarification and goobieman gave it with my thanks to follow. You falling over yourself to call someone stupid just left you looking like an a$$, but then...what else is new?

wow-woke up on the wrong side of the feather bed did we. You normally are pretty bright but it is an infringement
