Belonging to MENSA is like having the title "Galactic Emperor" and being paid like the salad guy at Arby's.

I took the test as a young teenager, was accepted, and walked away. Is there really any point beyond a measure of self-satisfaction?

I feel that I have more to brag about regarding that I can solve the rubik's cube in about two minutes even though I'm colorblind...

And even though most people will tell me it is still pretty mixed up, I know the real truth of it because I'm in mensa and they aren't...

Well, supposedly it does provide access to a group of people with a common interest in intellectual pursuits-- and in many cases, people who understand what it's like to grow up surrounded by people who don't understand the things you are interested in, don't understand you when you try to explain them, and then assume that their inability to relate to your interests is because of some flaw in your character.

I've considered joining, but there's very little organized Mensa activity in the area-- I'd have to drive forty miles just to take the test. And, luckily, I manage to get enough intelligent conversation between my social circle and the Internet.

People who have self sufficient egos don't feel the need to belong to elite groups....
This forum is not an elite group. That is why a FEW people have so much trouble here. They think they are elite, and may even have a lot of knowledge and intellect, but if they don't get stroked by the rest of us, they get all pouty....

Sort of an odd thread to resurrect.
