Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, asparagus, cinnamon rolls. Had some friends over for dinner. I'm vomitoriously stuffed.

How was the asparagus cooked?

Meatloaf, I haven't ever had a real meatloaf before.

sounds great.

Well in that case...have I told you about my venison tenderloin medallions with a fruits of the forest wine reduction?
OH...just........STOP!:doh

No, go on. PLEASE? I'll trade you my venison stuffed mushrooms portifino recipe! Via PM of course. Sorry folks there are some things you have to EARN.

For dinner tonight, I had a vegetarian patty and egg burger, served with pasta salad.

I'm disappointed in you guys! Where's the vegetarians at?

The good thing about mango is that it softens and cooks down really well without much teasing. I imagine that chipotle smoky flavor would go really well with it. I have to tell you...I love those vinegar based barbecue sauces from the southeast. The St Louis style midwestern barbecue sauces are good too, but I don't much care for the tomato base. To me, it's so thick it almost overbears the meat.

I've brined turkeys for smoking at Christmas and I brined a pork roast one time. I love smoked meat but I don't like smoking it myself because something in my mind doesn't register that smoking is a legitimate way to sanitarily cook the meat. I know; it's stupid but I can't help it.

And I love Cooks Illustrated. They taught me how to make a proper roux. LOL

+1,

1 gallon apple cider vinegar
1 (28-ounce) bottle hunts ketchup
2 3/4 cups firmly-packed brown sugar
1/4 cup garlic powder
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup crushed red pepper
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

simmer it for 15 mins until the red pepper flakes sink.... I also add a tablespoon or so of NM sandia green chili powder. (sandia is the hot) I order it direct from NM, for a little heritage kick......

Sauce will last about a year and gets hotter with age.....

I got this recipe from a pig pickin I went to years ago and tweaked it a bit. ;)
