He was a man of strong personal courage and moral integrity. He was also in way over his head. I honor him for his military service and his work with Habitat for Humanity, and his being the first US president to live to the age of 100.

Yes---that is why the experts rank Carter from 22-26 depending on the year and the mix of historians, and criteria, Trump ranks at the bottom. The best given to Trump in the last 5 years has been at #43. Most put him at 46 or 45. These are from ALL political science organizations that historians are part of-----they all swing in the middle.....

He was a fine but unlucky president, who had to deal with the Iran hostage crisis and the Nicaraguan revolution. He instituted a human rights policy that dared to criticize non-communist countries for torture and murder of their own people. Reagan put an end to that foolishness.

The adults in the room understand that historian opinions of presidents are not really taken seriously until enough time has passed to avoid current tribal partisan drooling and rhetoric.

Largely his poor performance in dealing with the Iran Hostage crisis, however also much to do with double digit inflation, double digit interest rates, and double digit unemployment.

Jimmy Carter was a fine man and may have been our best ex-President ever.

It's too bad the skills to do the job were lacking.
