[W: #795] At least three people have been shot at the homes of Minnesota Democrats in overnight attacks by a gunman posing as cop

I did not. In fact I believe I made the case that these things are better to "wait and see".

But I do not think it is right to accuse even those who did jump the gun as people who wish for the death of those they disagree with.

I am not talking about people who engage in speculation. I am talking about members of the right-wing who begin spreading lies that any violence against people on the left is being committed by other leftists, or is a direct result of their social degeneracy (i.e. that this assassin must have been a leftist because he was a government appointee under a Democrat, that Pelosi's husband's attacker actually being his gay lover, etc.). Right-wingers who do that just want leftists dead.

As I said that is dangerous and dehumanizing. And some on the right would be doing the same thing were the tables turned.

The political right is doing it constantly and without fail, and is part of the reason I left the political right. It is an ideology built on a foundation of insecurity, grievance, repression and a desire to enact suffering and outright violence against people who have never personally wronged people on the right other than to make them feel small and stupid.

Once we learned that he had a manifesto in which all of his assassination targets were Democrats and abortion providers, we were in the clear.

Who is "we"? Were you one who was claiming he was on the opposing team from the beginning?

So left wingers who do that must just want rightists dead.

No, RF667799. Though I was suspected that he was a violent right-wing terrorist from the beginning before the manifesto came out. The manifesto made me certain that we were dealing with a violent right-wing terrorist. Later available evidence of his political leanings only confirmed my certainty.

If they anything comparable to what the American right-wing was and is doing, yes. Absolutely. But they do not. So no. There is no left-wing media ecosystem in which dozens and then hundreds of left-wing online agitators with small-to-medium followings start spreading lies that an obvious act of left-wing violence against a right-winger was in reality a right-winger engaging in violence against a fellow right-winger, only then to be picked up by left-wing media personalities who spread these same lies to and have them repeated by their hundreds of thousands of left-wing followers.

Another Trump voting Even Jelly Kool "loses his cool", kills two lawmakers, injures two others.
Reports say he also owned a "security company" which of course has a few "patrol" vehicles (basically FAKE cop cars).

Remember how the toy industry had to start putting bright orange tips on fake guns, so folks would clearly know they weren't real?
I think it's time we considered doing something similar with "security" and their "security patrol cars" because we're seeing way too many people cruising around pretending to be real police officers and literally killing folks when the cheese slides off their cracker.

---A friend of Vance Boelter said he received a text message from the suspect, which read, "I’m going to be gone for a while. May be dead shortly."
Yeah right, God willing before he kills a few more people, yeah.

Should we start considering laws that require "security patrol" cars to be painted ONLY bright orange so people will KNOW that they aren't actually COP CARS?
And maybe it's also time that the UNIFORMS these people wear be mandated to be bright orange or pink or some color that clearly proves that they are NOT
actual sworn law enforcement?
I'm just spitballing here, I'm not saying security guards have to wear clown suits but something has to make it clear to people answering their door that they are not seeing "cops" when the person ISN'T a cop.
More of a reason that federal agents should be required to prove they work for said agency before they start violating your rights. A vest with the words police really doesn’t cut it. Lookin at you ICE. Y’all look like criminals.

Oh. They have to perform exactly the same steps, in the same order (except switch sides) to be subject to the same non-sequitur claim.

Do you think you'll be able to squeeze enough out of this violent right wing terrorist to paint the entire right/republican/conservative/maga cohort?

Well, yeah.

Or die trying.

Some posters here look really bad dying on Mount Bigotry. Even if it's a small hill they've manufactured from an abundance of hyperbole. I mean, there are some posters here who live on that peak, but there are others it is disappointing to watch them struggle.

Bigotry, you say?

Against whom?

When you try to paint an entire group with the actions of a few, that's bigotry built on prejudice. You even agreed that was going on in this instance.

So it was bigotry to say that Nazis were bad people? How about the Chinese communist party?

How about leaving those goalposts right where they were?

A right-wing Evangelical Christian Trump-supporter attempted to murder multiple Democratic state legislators, succeeding in murdering the Minnesota Speaker of the House of Representatives, Melissa Hortmann along with her husband.

But we must never forget who the real victims were: Republicans and Trump supporters who fear that they will be painted with the same broad brush as the shooter.

There can be victims and victims. Why are you intent on victimizing Republicans and Trump supporters with that brush, and using that hoary "let's not forget the real victims" trope?

Why should I be painted with that brush?

That RW ecosystem is worth at least a couple of billion dollars if you include their homegrown news media.
So yeah, there's no multi-billion dollar fund fountain for LW attacks against Trumpers, and should such a system ever get built it will just make things even worse.
The only solutions to this cancer is intense education, increased voter involvement and a commitment to a sense of community which we began losing when the angry right morphed into a fully funded nationalist overthrow movement.
Absent all of the above, we are headed toward collapse or civil war, and I don't mean 1861 style.

Rational people do not have that as a goal.
Rational people, which includes longtime traditional conservatives, independents and Democrats alike, want a return to where cons and libs could fight like cats and dogs during the day and hash out reasonable solutions at night over beer and cigars when the kleig lights and cameras got turned off.

You know, traditional POLLY TICKS.

The "paint" only STICKS if they are bending into pretzels to excuse, support, defend or otherwise deify these murderous nutjobs.
If even a tiny handful of righties in power would speak and act rationally and admit there is something seriously wrong about it, you'd see something of a calming effect.
I thirst for hearing someone on the right express sympathy over this. It reassures me that the whole country isn't quite going to shit just yet.
