Charles Virgil Bowne lives in the same neighborhood as the home that he broke into. The 39-year-old was taken by helicopter to the hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds to the head, bicep, shoulder, and left leg at 4:45 AM on Monday morning.

Hopefully this will detour others from trying the same crimes.

Any would be burglar would have to make it past my ten guard dogs to make it into my house....They work better than guns..

Maybe next time, you should think more broadly about whether guns actually wind up making people safer.

And why should you be allowed to own guard dogs and other people not be allowed to own guns?

What a hero. He shot an unarmed drug addict.

It won't..
Hate to say it but you're probably right. Like the perfect crime where you never get caught (or shot). But maybe it will help an anti gun person see that a good guy with a gun can help. To much that last sentence?

Yes, but the position of the gun control lobby is:-

1. By allowing the "good" guy to have a gun you also allow the "bad" guy to get a gun

2. If guns were banned, there would be little or no need for the "good" guy.

How many lives were saved with guns last year?
Not many. The NRA's favorite numbers on that are vastly overinflated, as they rely heavily on self-reporting. E.g. Kleck's numbers suggest that hundreds of thousands of aggressors were shot by defenders, yet obviously nowhere near that number shows up in any hospital records or anywhere else.

E.g. in most years, there are 1500-2000 defensive gun uses -- and 1600-2200 unintentional shootings. Meaning you're just as likely to harm yourself or an innocent bystander as you are to protect yourself. That's not exactly a slam dunk for defensive gun use.

I doubt many people want to resort to ten guard dogs. A gun just takes one bullet and a pull of the trigger to protect you valuables and family.

You don't clean loaded guns. You check and even double check. Hell I go as far as too stick my finger in the chamber. Common saying "but I didn't know it was loaded". Because I didn't check I just assumed.

Has no idea how to handle a firearm. Racked slide and ejected cartridge, apparently she didn't drop the mag. first and just loaded a fresh one in the chamber. Taking selfies with finger on trigger? Plain stupid.

OK gun jammed and he was clearing it and shot himself in the hand and bullet fragments hit the women. Almost sounds like the cartridge exploded in a manner not consistent with a closed action. Way out of battery. Ill seated primer on a reload?

Another,"I didn't know it was loaded" didn't check but I was pretty sure it wasn't.

Short on details. Probably another "I didn't know it was loaded so I'll treat it like it isn't.

Yes guns do make you safer. But the morons that clean loaded guns and twirl them on their fingers and just take them for granted give the rest of us a bad rap. Not checking everyone of those, but did spot check and accidental I didn't know it was loaded seemed prevalent.
Kinda like one or two Pit Bulls give them all a bad name.
