[W:#23,579]Ukraine War Thread

I did give you Retired General Wesly Clark saying exactly that. For a quote and time from Putin, I would need to relook that up. It May take a while since I'm busy right now. So remind me if I get distracted and do not get it to you soon. enough. Or you could google just as easily after all it's actually common knowledge at this point.
@FreedomFromAll You asked me to remind you, so I am.

I did see one report that The West (US satellites?) has been providing Ukraine with battlefield intel. That can be really valuable, especially when your opponent is nearly blind.
True, NATO/US has been supplying Ukraine with all kinds of data, and some of it would be in real time.
From comms intercepts to satellite data.

Yes. Had they 250 Leopard's, an equal number of Marder's and Stryker's, and 30 SU's this could really turn it into a rout. Hell, even two hundred humvees with tows would help.

Sadly, there is little indication that NATO has turned and of the bordering nations into feverish workshops of training or adaptation of western weapons to Ukraine's platforms.
Marder are old stuff CW equipment, Puma is todays choice of one of the most nasty anti tank infantry fighting vehicle.

I remember reading how Germany was close to energy independence using solar and wind. Was that all talk or did the politicians back off?
They were no where near it. Next 5-10 years they will be getting a substantial percent of energy from renewables.
When the Germans put their will into something, well they get it done
And as we can see they are highly motivated

Hungary has been an outlier within the EU/NATO- EU Court ruled that the EU could withhold funds as Hungary fid not align with the EU common values. Democracy. rule of law............

Poland is in the same boat due to laws passed, handpicking Judges, firing others..............

So the EU hits Hungary 1st, and Poland will watch and be forced to repeal specific laws and such.
It will force Orban to change of lose 10's of billions in Euros, which he desperately needs.
Hopefully Orbans days of corruption starts coming to an end.

That is as much as decided. Orban has very close ties to Putler, which probably is the clincher.

Wednesday for Russia, well another bad day coming.

155 mm, common size, does Ukraine have the ability to use these?
I have no idea
in 2014 Ukraine cut all defense contracts with Russia. They then developed their own computer boards for the Russian ammo and surprise, surprise have vastly improved the ammo.
When you see those drone pictures of artillery striking with great precision, those are quad copter with the laser on it. Electric quad, can't hear those guys.

Well appears he is shooting his wad in Ukraine. If he has this much trouble taking Ukraine how is he going to have any success against NATO countries?
Most likely a different method. Probably involving WMDs or he will wait until he can or dies.

That is as much as decided. Orban has very close ties to Putler, which probably is the clincher.
If it was not for the war, Poland would be facing the same fate.
Time for the EU to crush this autocratic asshole.
EU needs a mechanism to suspend all aid.
EU needs a mechanism to remove a country from the EU.

I did see one report that The West (US satellites?) has been providing Ukraine with battlefield intel. That can be really valuable, especially when your opponent is nearly blind.
And from what I heard the Russians are doing a terrible job of communicating with each other. Stealing cell phones from civilians to communicate?

Germany, when wind and weather is right, can produce up to 70% of its ELECTRICAL energy. Germany is one of the largest electrical exporters in in Europe.
Electric is ok, but then you need combustible for heating and Industry. That is Germanies next big program, produce Hydrogen, with the excess wind energy it produces in its off shore windparks to produce green hydrogen. They are running rather large pilot projects in some of the port cities.
Hamburg is interesting, because they use the areal of the former coal docks.
The second interesting project they have going is biogas, fermenting bio refuse, agriculture waste products, like manure, sewer plants and so on.
There are all ready very large commercial operations going, mostly at big farms.

I remember reading how Germany was close to energy independence using solar and wind. Was that all talk or did the politicians back off?
Naw, never anywhere near to close.

Rampant nimby-ism among the populace slowed things down enormously and individual states sopped to their voters as much as to Big Energy lobbyists.

But that will change now, even if far too late to prevent the industrial and thus economic crisis that will be coming.

Like with all people, change only finds acceptance when there's no alternative any more. So things don't get addressed before they break, they have to break first.

Makes sense - into the Ukrainian grinder
That said, an unconfirmed Ukrainian military intelligence report suggests that Moscow could soon send the 64th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 35th Combined Arms Army, a unit that reportedly committed war crimes in Bucha, into the fight in eastern Ukraine in the hopes that guilty members of that brigade and witnesses of its war crimes are killed in combat with Ukrainian forces

  • The withdrawal of Russian forces from around Kyiv is nearing completion.
  • Russia has not yet introduced forces withdrawn from western Ukraine into the fight in the east.
  • Ukrainian forces continued to put up organized resistance in parts of Mariupol.
  • Russian forces conducted limited offensive operations on the Izyum-Slovyansk axis.

I was busy today and did not keep up with the threads about Ukraine. Therefore I missed posts about how the world has been reacting today. This evening when I read that Russia might want to deploy troops that had committed atrocities to combat in the East in order to "get rid of them" it surprised me. From where I am coming from Russia couldn't care less. But, as I said, I missed today's discussion. Did something happen today that might have made Russia suddenly start to care if the world saw the faces of the soldiers who committed war crimes?

And from what I heard the Russians are doing a terrible job of communicating with each other. Stealing cell phones from civilians to communicate?
Yes comms are a mess -they have encrypted systems, but blew up cell towers limiting their use, in some areas would not work, soldiers using cell phones to pass information. I could go on but it only gets worse for Russia on comms.
Cell locations, recorded transcripts, will be used in WC Charges.

Now what will Putin do down south/east?
Russian BTG's have been in combat for nearly 6 weeks. A fair number have been mauled by the Ukrainians. It takes time to redeploy from Belarus to support the attack in Kharkiv.
Their logistics is a mess

I read where some say at least a few weeks before the Russians can launch another offensive

Me, no idea, but if that is the case, Ukraine will have more armor/ S300/ BUKs in theater.
More precision artillery rounds, drones, armed and not.

Going to be one massive ****ing bloodbath.

Wednesday lots of new sanctions, closing all ports, shutting down western export of parts, and a host of economic slams.

All it takes is one man.

More war crimes to be discovered.

My dear friend John Beyrooty (former boxing promoter - on Right) with his friend Wladimir Klitschko.
He is close with both Wlady and Vitali Klitschko.

Beyrooty is flying to Ukraine tomorrow to interview the Klitschkos.
Actually, I should say he's planning to, because the situation is so fluid that schedules may wind up topsy-turvy, but
that is reportedly the plan.
