[W:1103] Netanyahu tells Israel ‘We are at war’ after Hamas launches an unprecedented attack on the country - Live Thread.

......we literally have numerous well documented massacres carried out by Israel when Israel was in Hamas’ current position.

You have nothing to support the claim that started this exchange.

Hamas hasn’t used civilians as human shields?

Funny how you tried to ignore Israel itself extensively using human shields.

Makes it sound like you don’t really cars about that at all and are just looking for an excuse to blame shift.

American far right extremists have been more than happy to set off bombs all over the place, as the historical record shows.
Bombing a closed abortion clinic at night does not even register on the same moral scale as what Hamas conducted.

We’re talking mass murder, I’ve seen pictures of car seats covered with blood because Hamas was shooting the babies in those seats, pictures of the bodies of Thai migrants mutilated, a plan was set up to block evacuation routes and murder people fleeing. There is zero actions you can attribute to “trump supporters” that even begin to compare

If Israel wants to behave like Hamas it should do so without another cent of US aid.
Well, considering there is no Speaker, the amount of monetary aid we can send them is quite limited currently.

But…we have a lot of military assets and that’s completely under Biden’s control - at least in the short term.

In fact, we’ve apparently already deployed Naval assets in their direction.

And frankly, one we can get Congress functional again, we will most definitely send Israel more financial aid.

It’s foregone. And no one is going to ask your opinion to include any tax dollars you might pay in that equation.

"Asymmetric Warfare" the disgusting apologists say...

Same mindset of people in the West who who nodded sagely that Hitler just needed living space...

No longer responding to those people. They have not earned the respect of a response.

Israel is the opposite of Hamas. Israelis value life. Israelis would never sacrifice their children to be suicide bombers. Israelis welcome all types of people into their nation. Do you think any white person would feel comfortable walking through Gaza?

Do you see the difference?

Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians(and Ethiopian Jews) seems to strongly suggest otherwise.

Gee, given that Franco’s regime collapsed within five years after his death....clearly not.

😆

I fixed a car once. Given that it only ran another 100,000 miles, I guess it wasn't really fixed. 😂

And not a bit of it will change anything.

Gee, I get that Francoist Spain was a trusted friend of Cold War America and all, but the fact of the matter is that within five years after his death the Spanish people had chucked his ideology in the trash.

All that repression did was kick the can down the road a bit.

Oh, and seeing as insurgents continued operating in Spain long after his death.....

I gave like eight separate examples proving that Israel acted like Hamas when it was in Hamas’ position.

You can give 800, and it doesn't support a universal claim, let alone one that predicts the whole of future events.

Israel has attempted that numerous times....and failed each one.

And then, of course, there’s the reality that “eliminating” Hamas without addressing the root causes is meaningless.
This is the biggest deployment of Israeli military personnel in the history of Israel. All reserves have been called up. This time is different.

The first step is to eliminate Hamas. After this we shall see how serious the Palestinian people are with fixing this problem. I doubt they will be much help which will lead us to step 2.

Except for the fact that we know, for a fact, what happened when Israel was in Hamas’ position.

I asked you first. Give me an answer and we can talk.

Did he care?

When he was alive? The repression would tend to suggest yes, he did. Them blowing up Admiral Blanco— his designated successor— sure wasn’t taken lightly.

All that repression and they still couldn’t stop the insurgents from killing arguably the most important man in the country. Gee, sounds an awful lot like that qualifies as “not working”.

Why would they help a regime which is slaughtering their families? Killing civilians doesn’t make them inclined to provide aid.

Nobody believes a Pinochet fan— someone who defends the Albigensian Crusade, of all things— cares about civilian deaths, sorry.

All I’m going to say is I have my faith in the US army restored because during a recruiting crisis a particular terror sympathizer was psych’d out of basic training and determined unfit for service

Except for the fact that we know, for a fact, what happened when Israel was in Hamas’ position.

Irrelevant. Takes more than that to support a universal claim, especially one that includes future events. Thinking that unfailing predictions of future events can be made on the basis of past events is known as the Gambler's Fallacy.

Biden didn’t talk “restraint” when talking to Bibi. The US and all civilized countries are on board with a massive Israeli siege of Gaza. You mess with the bull you get the horn.

Sounds like you should stop defending mass murdering despots like Franco and Pinochet if you want to be taken seriously when you talk about civilian deaths.

Absolutely relevant given that is what he was explicitly talking about.
