US soldiers 'killed Afghan civilians for sport and collected fingers as trophies

If true, well...

Punishment must be meted out, and prevention measures for future incidents of this sort emplaced.

If not true, I can see some punishment being dealt to those who made the accusations.

sorry to burst your balloon but whether you share the Guardians liberal viewpoint or not, it is one of the best papers for accuracy.

The guardian isn't liberal.

It is leftist.

We all have our 10% - no matter what profession you are in

Is their any purpose to this thread other than making our military look bad? .

Probably not, but that shouldn't prevent anybody from condemning the actions involved.

Personally, I think it's most likely far less than 10%, at least if we're speaking of this type of action and the US military.

A newspaper article is evidence? For real?!?

They are being charged. They wouldn't be charged if there was absolutely no evidence against them.

These type of people deserve to rot.

lol...Being charged with a crime doesn't make you guilty - being convicted does.

These type of people deserve to rot.

Muslim terrorists that attack unarmed civilians because they traditionally lose more than they win when they attack armed soldiers. They are cowards. Those type of people deserve to rot

Is it possible for you to leave at least a few threads you touch on topic instead of turning them into a "let's see who's the biggest Islamophobe" competition? Thanks in advance.

Where exactly did I say they were guilty from this sentence?

"They are being charged. They wouldn't be charged if there was absolutely no evidence against them."

@ Maggie
I am glad you brought this up. War is horrific, hell, and everything else.
This type of behavior has been seen in all wars and maybe we need to highlight the causes and solutions beyond, ‘fry’ them.
@ Enigma
I think you highlighted a major cause; redeploying soldiers over and over and over again will create monsters.

*I remember reading an article from members of Iraq Veterans Against War talking about how the killing of innocent civilians was encouraged by commanders, it came from the top down.

What are the odds of a story like this coming to light at this particular time? The building of the Mosque, the nut wanting to burn Qurans, Afghans protesting and burning American flags, Imam Rauf saying we must build the mosque there for national security against radical Islam. This seems like it could be pour gas on the fire.

Am I turning into some kind of a conspiracy theory nut?

How did you miss "lol...Being charged with a crime doesn't make you guilty - being convicted does. "

Check out the OP. He is on topic.

It is true, for all those doubters on the right.

Stryker brigade soldiers allegedly kept 'trophy' body parts | McClatchy

and

Local News | Stryker soldiers allegedly took corpses' fingers | Seattle Times Newspaper

The army is releasing information now that the story has broken. I would wager they have been trying to keep it under raps for as long as possible (I would if I were them), and will not release much information as it could inflame the situation and hurt a possible conviction.

you know how when a few fanatical muslims do something bad, we immediately get lectured for lumping all muslims together? isn't it funny then, that when a few americans do something bad, "their" first reaction is to lump us all together?

So, is this going to make you less likely to lump all Moslems together and call them terrorists? Looking forward to your answer.

But I thought we went to those countries to do good

Indeed.

By the way laila, why did you all bomb our buildings and decapitate people whil stoning homosexuals. I thought you all were a religion of peace.

You know, since we're just going with broad strokes now it seems I figure we may as well go full out.

yes, unfortunately

and there is the kicker, just as with domestic disturbance calls here. If the "victim" refuses to press charges there is nothing the cops can do.

So, is this going to make you less likely to lump all Moslems together and call them terrorists? Looking forward to your answer.

since I haven't lumped all muslims together and called them terrorists, the answer would have to be "no". was just pointing out the rampant hypocrisy of many on the left. (notice I said many and not all )

So are you saying sociopathic behavior would be quelled had thier not been a war?

Well, it hasn't been quelled with war.

But no, I'm saying there is a reason why war should not be something we enter into frivolously. It shold be something that saddens us even when it is justified. And anger us when it is not.
