US election: Bernie Sanders invited to Vatican by Pope [W:124]

Lol !!

Most people are already educated on Bernie's economic plans.

Massive new debt ( stimulus) and tax increases in a down economy.

In other words he's going to finish off what's left of a economy that's so weak even 8 years of near zero interest rates can't get it going again

I guess $32 Trillion isn't enough then? Do you have even a basic fundamental understanding of 5th-Grade level mathematics?
$32 Trillions is more than enough to give every single American healthcare, a basic income, food and housing...

Come to think of it, every human being on the face of this planet.

even if they confiscate every penny ( which they can't and won't)... nobody else on the planet will get 1 red cent.... everybody else on the planet is better off with the money right where it is, due it's it's usefulness in the banking system

government are interested in taxing that money, not confiscating all of it..... if the governments get their tax money, it's simply removed from the economy.( not sure why people believe they get a cut of tax revenues, but it's an unfounded belief)

understanding simple math is one thing.. .understanding economics, fiscal policy, and monetary policy, is quite another.

wonder who the pope is endorsing for the presidential election

feel the bern

I doubt the pope will be endorsing anyone...... but it would look kinda funny for him to endorse a Jew when he's , you know, the head of Christianity.

Yup, Bernie's plan is theft in the name of " fairness " and " equality ".

He'd be crazy not to meet with him in some manner!

One of Hillary Clinton's core groups is blue collar Catholics, and this would seem to strike at the heart!

Go Bernie! Go!

Why as a Libertarian would you want a Socialist as president?

I understand the economy is rigged in favor of having several thousand people control a quarter of the world's wealth. But you support that, I take it.

Indeed. A modern-day Robin Hood. Conservatives like you must be running scared that your White establishment patriarchal plutocracy is teetering on the brink of collapse by the doing of nothing more than an international consortium of renegade journalists. When the only justification for a tiny elite feeding off of and holding hostage our planet and our species is the very corrupt system that supplies it, it is time to change tax laws, big time.

Bernie is an angry old white commie coward , refusing service claiming to be a conscientious objector and his "principles" would NOT allow him to fight for our Country .:usflag2: Now this coward wants to be Commander in Chief and order our fine soldier to fight , typical hypocrite ! This is the very same coward that was Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs at it's most disgraceful period . Bernie never worked a day in his miserable life and his allegiance is with Russia !

Its not going to get better.

The "market" isn't going to break off more than a second world lifestyle here.

It doesn't have to so it isn't going to.

So as long as the "market" is king we can do nothing but get used to it.

NO ONE is scared of the likes of Bernie Sanders.

NO ONE is scared of the likes of Bernie Sanders.

That is probably not an accurate statement. I assure you certain special interests are quite uncomfortable with the prospect of a Sanders administration, and many of them are inside the power structure of the DNC ;)

Well that is pretty cool. One of the most progressive popes who espouses liberation theology invites one of the most progressive candidate the Democrats have put forward in decades.

Birds of feather flock together. Two destructive social demagogues - one righteously arrogant, another unctuously humble (his holy office requires humbleness) - embrace like brothers. I think Mr.Trump should sneak in (bribe the Swiss guards, or something), and join the group hug. What a photo-op.

Is this really the 21st century in making? Oh. My. God.

Again, NO ONE is scared of Bernie Sanders primarily because there's no way in hell he could ever win the General election

Slim chance that he can overcome the corrupt forces within the DNC and actually be nominated, so I get your point. That said, everybody knows that anything can happen in politics, and Bernie's popularity makes the power structure, and individuals within it, quite uncomfortable.

For example, when I tell all my fellow Republican friends that I'm voting for Bernie if he's nominated, they look most uncomfortable. Afraid? Probably not afraid or scared, but definitely uncomfortable.

for some of us, this invitation by the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences for Bernie to speak about the need for a moral economy, is the equivalent of an endorsement

if we see that hillary, cruz, tRump, or kasich also received an invitation to speak at this vatican event, then i shall retract that papal endorsement assertion

Would Catholics seriously change their vote to Bernie just because he visited the Pope?

I agree it's a smart move on his part, on the other hand it was the Pope who extended the invitation so it looks to me like seizing an opportunity.

And yet you don't hesitate to post on threads about Bernie. I think your "no way in hell he could ever win the general election" is your incantation. You say as often as you can in an attempt to cast a spell on the Sanders campaign. That's a rather primitive method and one witch little or no valid effect. But then, desperate people do silly things.

Bernie winning isn't the only reason people support Bernie. He has already forced Hillary toward liberal and progressive positions. He has forced her away from being the democratic-Republican establishment candidate that she is. Bernie has changed opinions about election funding and support. Bernie has galvanized young people of all colors. Bernie has been the only candidate to suggest peace as opposed to war. Bernie has shown that it is possible to use the system to beat the system, even if he doesn't win.

If we objectively consider the worthy Christian saying "What Would Jesus Do?'' it makes sense that Bernie would be invited to meet with the Pope. Bernie the Jew, Bernie the social democratic, is more Christlike in his presidential ideals than any of the other candidates.

Yes, the avowed Socialist whose running on substantial tax increases in a down economy is going to win the General.....

The guy that wants to break up the banks but has no clue how, is going to win the election. ..( he hasn't really given it any thought beyond appealing to the naive of the naive )

The guy that said food lines were a good thing has the election in the bag

Bernie is weak as pond water. Think ISIS, Putin, or any other head of state will respect him?

Greetings, Mo. :2wave:

The protestors who only seem to want their 15 minutes of fame should not be allowed to disrupt rallies. It is rude to begin with, and unfair to those who came to hear what Sanders - or any other speaker at any other rally - had to say. So they have a beef and decide to let everyone know about it? These people should be escorted out of the area for being disruptive and generally obnoxious, IMO! :2mad:
