Maybe the games and apps forum is more appropriate but culture does drive politics.

When we gripe around here about the decay of our culture and moral ethics, lets look back at garbage like the above mentioned popular game app.

And I thought the glorification of gun violence with the abuse of women was the worst it can get.

=================================

The game, which is aimed at children from age 12, also enables players to place ‘packing’ or ‘tucking’ underwear’ on their sims, garments that give or hide the appearance of male genitalia.

The “Create a Sim” character creator now has a “Top Surgery Scar” subcategory, which can be added to male Sims characters aged Teen or older. Furthermore, chest binders can be found under the “Tanks” subcategory in the “Tops” section, while “tucking underwear” can be situated under “Bottoms” in the “underwear” subcategory.
In a statement, “The Sims 4” producer John Faciane called the update “a step in the direction of a more inclusive experience for Simmers.”

It’s just a simulation though right?

please save your lecturing for someone else.

Who here remembers the fauxrage over The Sims 1 allowing same sex couples?
I was impressed how progressive that creators of The Sims are. I've bought 2 updates for my daughter when she was a teen.

Maxis games has made a ****ing fortune out of letting people make whatever they want of their Sims characters. They are not intended to be real life. Sims also have sex, use the bathroom(pixelated), can be criminals. You can kill sims any number of ways intentionally. That you chose one tiny aspect of the game to get all outraged over shows just how phony that outrage is.

The irony is that The Sims would be a good tool to teach hard work as the route to success and that chasing your dream means putting in a ton of effort.

Nothing says FUN! like chest binders, which can cause chest/back pain, rib bruising/fractures and skin damage.

Yeah, maybe there should be an Asian choice to have your feet bound like in the old Chinese days of pain and suffering for women just to have a fetish satisfied by men. Ugh!

Or how about a female Muslim character and a doctor visit for a FGM procedure.

Do Asian people do that today?

If I fire up my flight simulator, will it make me want to jump off the roof?

You realize this is a game we're talking about? It's not painful.

Isn't this the same game that has a career track of being a criminal?

Seems like that would be more problematic.

I remember playing the original Sims back in middle/high school. Burglar was one of the career paths you could choose. Of course VySky is more concerned about chestbinders. 😄

They aren't supposed to be fun. They are tight to reduce the projection of breasts as a way to alleviate gender dysphoria in trans teens. Trans guys don't want breasts, so they wear a binder to limit their appearance, just the same a way as trans females tuck. I doubt you want to know about the details of that.

Trans teen males play Sims, so they are giving them the things they need.

Of course I know it is a game.

And football can cause CTEs but that's not going to stop the MAGA Meatheads from hooting every time there is an ESPN highlight-worthy tackle.

Or how about a female Muslim character and a doctor visit for a FGM procedure.
Or a hijra campaigning for government recognition of a third sex.

Who's next? Wanna stay on the Indian subcontinent or should we make fun of the way Eskimos kiss?
