The University of Michigan is accused of kicking an InterVarsity Christian Fellowship chapter off campus because the group requires its leaders to be Christians – an apparent violation of the university’s non-discrimination policy.
University of Michigan Kicks Christian Club off Campus | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes
You know, on the one hand, I really resent the implication that being forced to follow the same rules as secular clubs is somehow "hostile" to Christianity... but on the other hand, how perfectly ****ing daft is it to say that a Christian campus club cannot require that it's leaders-- not even its general membership, its leaders to be Christian? That's like telling the German club that it can't require that its members speak German-- or, at least, be interested in speaking German.
Gotta agree with you there.
But yah know I never really understood the need for any of these club things.
Why not just make friends who are similar to you and hang out...
What's all the need for these official campus clubs anyway?

They should all join the GLBT club and overthrow their leadership.

That would go over like a lead Zeppelin*, no doubt... the screams of outrage would rise to the clouds I'm sure.
"But, but, but.... they're not even GLBT!!!"
(* and when I say lead zeppelin, I don't mean the good kind, like this Led Zeppelin...)
I was president of the Lesbian and Gay Society at my uni. We weren't allowed to stipulate that post-holders were gay or lesbian, but there were elections for every post. How many votes do you think the straight candidates would have gotten? Funnily enough, none stood.

A Christian group can't require that it's leader(s) be Christian?
Too bad you can't teach common sense.
That's how Universities display their support for diversity and tolerance.
They're 'all inclusive' sacks of mush.
If you read the actual article being discussed, you'd know that already.I don't understand, is there a blood test or something to prove you're Christian? Midi-Chlorians?
A Christian group can require it's leaders to be anything they want. They just can't be affiliated with and supported by the University if their structures are in conflict with the Universities rules. Again, University organisations are meant to bring students together, not divide them.A Christian group can't require that it's leader(s) be Christian?

Several benefits attend this school-approved status, including the use of school funds, facilities, and channels of communication, as well as Hastings’ name and logo. In exchange for recognition, RSOs must abide by certain conditions. Critical here, all RSOs must comply with the school’s Nondiscrimination Policy, which tracks state law barring discrimination on a number of bases, includ-ing religion and sexual orientation.
<snip>
For example, the Hastings Democratic Caucus cannot bar students holding Republican political beliefs
Too bad the university can't practice its own policy, and discriminates against an Asian Christian club.....the racist Christian-phobic hypocrites. I think that they should write their representatives and find out how much tax money the university is getting, and work on killing that. They should contact the ACLU.
So much fun reading stuff from some of those who proudly post their ignorance
