UNION NO!!! in Garner, North Carolina

Speaking honestly and truthfully are unAmerican and inhuman?
You are saying you don’t like unions. That’s just a personal taste. I suppose that’s an honest and truthful declaration of your taste.

But psychopaths have honest and truthful declarations of their tastes too. Does that necessarily make them all-American and humane?

Quote my words saying that.

I thought you said speaking honestly and truthfully is not un- American. Did I misunderstand?
Then you consider baseless accusations to be honest and truthful? I asked you to quote my words which lead you to believe I don't like unions.

I was addressing another poster here. You came to defend their words. So you disagree with them?

I rarely agree wholly with anyone, though based on what was said by that poster in post #11, I agree with them having been both a very active union member and management employee having to work with that union resolving issues frequently. Unions, like the people who run them, can be both bad and good.

I saw a UAW member attempting to make fun of a Toyota employee working in San Antonio on a news broadcast once. The UAW chump was summarily dismissed when the Texan made fun of him for being unemployed. What good is better pay and benefits if you're not working?
Don't mess with TX.

UNION NO!!! in Garner, North Carolina.

At the Garner Amazon facility, 829 yes, 2,447 no.

Union butt slams don’t get worse than that.

Garner is just on the south side of Raleigh City limits. My niece lives just a few miles to the east in the Clayton area and probably gets her packages via that facility.

I figured that the union would lose. I did not expect the epic butt kicking that the union got, considering that this occurred in what is generally a politically blue area in Wake County.

But it holds with the general trend of unions losing ground, now down to just a pathetic 5.9% of the private workforce and continue to fall as a share of the workforce.

The few wins unions are getting are at small Starbucks sized workplaces, which won't get them very far.
So many of the unions are democrat supporters and the times right now don't favor the left. It's not the rank and file all the time but the Union boss that throws their support to the democrats.

Good for them, like good republicans they once again voted against their own best interests. Seriously, who wants to work in a union shop where you get decent pay, decent benefits and can't be fired for any reason at all. I would much rather have no security at all and work in a right to work state for low wages and the chance of being fired for any reason a boss can think up. Brilliant, and you cheer, even more brilliant.

It’s sad that workers are scared to the point that they act against their own best interests.

How anyone can celebrate this as a good thing?
You're right, it is sad. As for your question, I think that you know the answer.

How are they bad, and how are they good? From whose perspective?

Heading off unions before they get ideas in the heads of workers? Ideas like fair pay and benefits? Ideas like work place safety?

Please.

And how is that Middle Class doing?

This is why many companies move to the south.

Theyre always interested in finding stronger backs.....and weaker minds. (y)

And the South will continue to wallow in socio-economic destitution.

From the perspective of a large majority of society, made up of atheists, agnostics, theists, and any others.

What about them?

We were discussing that unions can be good or bad. Which are you talking about here?

And what does being an atheist, agnostic, or theist have anything to do with it?

Sorry, wrong thread.

As for unions are you trying to say they can do nothing wrong? I've had experiences where the union members were not satisfied with the actions of the union.

They’re bad (depending on one’s perspective) because they cut into profits.

They’re good (from a different perspective) because they distribute profits.

They’re good (from a different perspective) because they distribute profits.

So without them, what's to keep us from returning to the Gilded Age, where a handful of factory owners took almost ALL the profits, and only paid workers enough to keep them alive to come back and work another day? Except this time it will be even worse, because worker productivity is higher- so you'll have a handful of Elon Musks, and everyone else will just always get paid bare subsistence pay, for the rest of their lives, and for the rest of history.

Does that sound sustainable to you?
