The largest biotech firm in the world wasted no time in offering to build and run COVID testing labs in Washington, contacting its governor right after the first major COVID outbreak in the U.S. occurred there. The Chinese company, the BGI Group, made the same offer to at least five other states, including New York and California, 60 Minutes has learned.

This, along with other COVID testing offers by BGI, so worried Bill Evanina, then the country's top counterintelligence officer, that he authorized a rare public warning. "Foreign powers can collect, store and exploit biometric information from COVID tests" declared the notice. Evanina believes the Chinese are trying to collect Americans' DNA to win a race to control the world's biodata.

So... what can they do with this bio data?
If you don’t trust the CCP: They can learn to develop strains they have vaccines and immunities from, release them and just so happen to be the only immediate supplier of the vaccine at their price.
If you do trust the CCP: More benign would be their control over biodata can lead to control over health care by predicting future medical condition and creating a monopoly over drugs and treatment. As technology advances, they will do to our health research what they have done for everything else: Get the CEO’s of health care to offshore our medical research and drug manufacturing to save a buck.

I’m coming to the conclusion that for the good of civilization as we know it to “end” China but closing our economy to them. We will lose Taiwan, but might save ourselves.

How does closing the US economy to China "end China"? You do realize they do more business with the rest of the world than we do right?

The only way in dealing with them is as a group of nations, and unfortunately Trump torpedoed the TPP, which was almost every major nation surrounding China. Now we're all individuals trying to take on the giant alone. Great strategy.

Yeah. Trump walking out of the TPP which he likely didn’t even understand beyond “Obama was involved” more or less ended any US ambition for economic curtailment of China going forward, as China stepped into our void and built a new compact without us. I imagine tight ties with Europe and India may act as a fairly robust defense against deeper encroachment, but that’s about it.

I tell ya this, they gonna want a double-dose of mine. We're talking super DNA. The good stuff.

If you asked the average American what percentage of the world population lives in the United States I bet they would say about half. When it's really less than 5%.

Nah, the TPP still exists, they just had to change the name to ratify it. It's now called the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans Pacifi Partnership.

"TPP's future was uncertain after the United States withdrew. Several signatories, however, signaled their intention to rework TPP without US participation."

"In January 2018, the remaining eleven countries agreed on a revised TPP, now renamed the "Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership" (CPTPP). CPTPP is substantially the same as TPP, but omits 20 provisions that had been added to TPP at US insistence and that are now no longer binding. These provisions primarily relate to investment, government procurement and intellectual property."

A half-dozen or so other countries have expressed interest in joining the treaty.
