This is an "opinion piece" thread. It seems government, courts, and law enforcement are being made meaningless - and it's a bipartisan effort. Here are some examples:

Biden extending the eviction moratorium despite it lacking legal authority and being able to withstand constitutional muster, even according to Biden himself.
The Daily Wire says no to Biden's vaccine mandate.
Florida schools plan to continue to enforce mask mandates despite yesterday's Florida 1st District Court ruling in favor of the DeSantis stay on school mask mandates.
Thieves boldly and openly rob stores and casually and comfortably remove merchandise as police have been left unable to respond.
Illegals cross our border, easily, for whatever reason they choose.

These are just a few of many, many examples but it feels like there is a real trend underway. I'd argue it really picked up steam in the summer of 2020, with that summer of riots. That's when it became especially clear to law abiding people and to criminals - that just about anything would be tolerated without consequences. Gun sales soared as people felt only they would or could protect themselves in today's world.

But now, it's even bigger. Court rulings (even from SCOTUS) are now ignored. One branch (even various offices) of government ignores the authority of another. People like Comey have harmed the reputation and integrity of agencies like the FBI and CIA. People like Fauci have made citizens doubt agencies like NIH and others.

"Authority" is no longer respected or working. The new theme (and it's growing quite pervasive) seems to be to do what you want with an attitude of "Try to stop me". And, I think it is quite clearly bipartisan.

You claim this is a bipartisan issue but all of your examples are one sided. I’d be interested to hear some truly bipartisan examples of where you believe your political brethren are advancing the “try and stop me” worldview.

Are you a big-government nationalist conservative?

I imagine small-government, right-libertarian type conservatives would be very pleased for government, courts, and law enforcement to become meaningless.

Try to stop me sounds kinda criminal. How about:

Cancun No Rules (mtv)

A consequence of the four lawless years of Donald Trump.

He contested every guardrail like a Mob boss.

The lawlessness during the Trump Administration was all on the left, including the abuse of the FISA court, not to mention all of the ANTIFA and BLM carnage.

Yes, the Trump led riots and storming of the Capitol were nothing more than a pep rally.

There are some that will make the civil war they've been drooling about come to fruition. With this attitude comes brave lawlessness. There's a mission, and that causes both sides to disregard law, and order.

They feel justified in doing so.
"Our freedoms!" defined by one side and fear and defense on the other. The makings of a civil war. Congratulations to those who have been practicing for it the last twenty years, Mr. Trump opened up the doors for you fkers. Enjoy.

We tried the carrot with you people, now you get the stick. (referring to antivaxxers, not literally you)

The government needs to be able to enforce laws, there just needs to be less laws

Was Trump leading the ANTIFA/BLM activist that was caught in the act of instigating violence and mayhem inside the Capitol? No. The riot certainly was instigated, however not by Trump.

So the Proud Boys and white supremacists were picking flowers for 4 years?

Have I denied that those groups were involved? No. The question is who instigated the riot. Not sure which part of "A BLM/ANTIFA activist was caught in the act of instigating violence and mayhem in the Capitol and arrested" you do not understand. You libruls are attempting to push the narrative that Trump instigated the riot. Do you want to think he sent in the ANTIFA/BLM activist?

Where were most Republicans when Trump as President went around Congress to use their power of the purse to build his border wall??? Link

A Trump appointed Federal Judge incorrectly ruled that the House of Representatives lacked standing to sue former President Trump over funding of the border wall. Link

The Constitution exclusively giving the Legislative Branch the power of the purse was affirmed in the 1998 Supreme Court ruling of Clinton v. New York City. Link

Biden as President may be abusing his power as President, but so did Trump. Most Republicans didn't mind Trump abusing his power as President.

The government needs to be able to enforce laws, there just needs to be less laws

But don't you think that the less the government is able to enforce laws, the more the free market can pick up the slack and do a better job?

There were no antifa or BLM at Capitol during the domestic terror attack.

You forgot a few (perhaps your elephant sat on them):

States pass abortion bans that plainly ignore courts rulings (even from SCOTUS).
People flagrantly violate mask requirements on airplanes and in private businesses, and then lose their shit and even start fights when they're called out for it.
Mobs storm government buildings, attacking police, ransacking offices, and threatening lawmakers.
Fundamentalists continually try to wedge religious teaching into public school science classes, and religious everything into the public square, flagrantly ignoring court rulings (even from SCOTUS).

There were no antifa or BLM at Capitol during the domestic terror attack.

I think that he may be referring to John Sullivan from Utah. But I don't think that Sullivan was really an antifa guy.

Hitler finally agreed that genocide is bad, it was a bi-partisan problem they and the Jews both were guilty about. Funny how these right-wingers don't have a *word* of criticism when Republicans are actually doing the things they claim are bi-partisan problems when a Democrat is in power. It's like debt, another example they 'discover' under Democrats.

Says Trumpist.

That means none of that post had any credibility.

That means none of that post had any credibility. You don't care about law and order. You don't care about right and wrong. And you certainly do not care about unilateral action.

And, I think it is quite clearly bipartisan.
Sure.

Biden trying to do the right thing for Americans and using executive authority is just like Trump using his power to unilaterally undo everything Obama did just to spite non-Trumpists and to further his many corrupt, criminal, and self-dealing schemes.

"both-sides".

Sure.

There were no antifa or BLM at Capitol during the domestic terror attack.

That is a flat out lie on your part.

I do like some aspects of this trend but, on the other hand, we now have significant escalation in crime. While I like choice, I think lawlessness and chaos is quite problematic for a society. I think a well working society needs freedoms and choice, orderly processes, government closer to the people, clearly defined laws and clear consequences (fairly and evenly applied). I think Constitution and SCOTUS rulings are very important!
