Trump Winning Over Sanders’ upporters isn't as crazy as you think

What about he rest of the ticket? I assume Democrats mostly. Your vote is more important in those races. The gridlock needs to be fixed and quickly or it won't matter what bills Sanders and Warren introduce. I know that Warren has said how much she is looking forward to working with Hillary. I hope you will help make that happen at least.

Arizona is hosed up with Teapublicans and has been for a while. I cannot begin to tell you how bad they are and have been for the people of Arizona. In almost every instance at state and local levels I will not vote for a GOP candidate. Here if you vote GOP you are voting for Tea Party. They will not get my vote. In most cases that means I'll vote Democrat.

I'm willing to vote Hillary/Warren or Hillary/Sanders. Hillary/Other will not receive my vote, and instead I'll vote Jill Stein. I mean, Hillary has been pretty browbeaten this primary, she seems to finally be realizing that she is heading out to rocky waters if she doesn't begin swerving further to the Left (Hence her economics speech today). But I'm waiting to see the full impact here, in terms of concrete policies and her VP pick. I think there's a small chance, if Hillary can swallow her pride and go for Warren. Because if she does that, it's pretty much clear sailing going forward. Those 45% of Sanders supporters will by-and-large turn around and support (however tepidly) Hillary if she does what she needs to. And once they support her, Trump will receive a substantial electorate beat down. If she doesn't, I expect that it'll be a close call between Trump and Hillary, since she'll be very, very weak in two key demographics: Millennials and Left-wing Independents.

I can't vote for Hillary, but I respect your reasoning.

And you think that millenials and left-wing independents will vote for Trump, if Clinton policy is rational?

So tempting. Just what we all want free tuition to "Trump University" :2razz:

The ultimate campaign pledge of a Trump-Sanders ticket? ;)

Only 40%? That is nothing 50% of Hillary supporters in 2008 swore they would never vote for Obama. Guess what happened in Nov.?

Exit polls: Half of Clinton’s supporters won’t back Obama – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

What happened in November, 2008?

The GOP put up career politician John McCain, after 8 years of an unpopular GOP president.

The democrats put up Obama, and mass hysteria ensued. Obama was the "Hope and Change" candidate, the one who was going to repair race relations once and for all. Jay Z and Oprah gushed with enthusiasm in their support of him.

McCain didn't stand a chance.

And you think Trump will do better? Hillary's people hated Obama more than Sanders people hate Hillary and they all ended up voting for Obama. This year will be no different.

Uhm if the GOP nominee attracts pro socialist voters what does that say about Trump?

You are right. Even Trump says Sanders should run 3rd party. He doesn't want them on his side.

Will Trump be able to persuade a significant number of Bernsters to his side? Comments? Thoughts?

no, never LOL

in real life I dont know ANY berny supporters that would ever vote trump . . . now thats just my life here in PA.
Here when there were pol questions asked like 60 people replied and 9 said they'd vote for trump.

COuld he get some? I guess, seems totally illogical but its possible. Could he get a "significant" amount? nope

Let's note the similarities between '08 and '16.
-"8 years of an unpopular president"..I wouldn't say that Obama is an unpopular as Bush, but I know many Obama voters have had remorse from 08 and 12.
- "Obama generated mass hysteria" from media, Hollywood, urban areas, etc....Trump has generated hysteria amongst people who haven't been able to relate to most politicians. The media does despise him, and that's cost him.
- Obama ran against a career politician with corruption allegations...Trump is running against a career opportunist who is one of the dirtiest politicians and connivers of all time.

Trump may stand a better chance than you'd care to admit.

I think it's a long shot, but this isn't a normal election by any means!

Well, considering Sanders' supporters are unrealistic morons just like the Trumpettes, I'd say "winning them over" should be easy-peasy. Of course, the "socialist" Bernie Bots should question the validity of their position if they somehow suddenly do find common ground with the Trump fascists. That's not saying they are capable of it though---the BB's are a pretty dumb bunch.

I have to ask. Have you not noticed how Trump simply repeats himself without ever really laying down a plan. "I'm going to build a wall. It's going to be a big wall. A really big wall. Watch me build a wall."

That's all he has. That people buy that crap amazes me.

Same with his plan to send back all the illegals. Has anyone supporting him thought for one second, considered at all, exactly what that would entail? We'd have a police state with millions of personnel dedicated to nothing but rooting out and shipping off illegals, probably snatching them up in the dead of night at gunpoint. Who thinks this is a good idea?

LOL...the idea that Bernie supporters are going to flock to Drumpf is as delusional as believing that Drumpf has any clue about foreign policy or any real shot at becoming President. Enjoy your fantasizing though.

Now that Bernie has lost the primary, he may be trying to repair relationships within his own party. It usually works that way. Considering the weight that Hillary wields, he may have no choice but to endorse her.
Bernie said that Hillary was far more preferable to Trump long before he lost the primaries. Did he lie then?

A CNN poll said that 40% of Bernie supporters wouldn't vote for Hillary in the general. Those votes are up for grabs.

Again, I'm not sure what percentage might consider Trump. But as a Trump supporter, I'd vote for Sanders if the only two options were Hillary or Bernie.
When was that CNN poll taken? I have no doubt that some Bernie supporters may vote for Trump but I think their votes will be negated or surpassed by disaffected conservatives, moderates, and independents who can't stomach Trump's racist and xenophobic comments. We'll see how most Bernie supporters feel after the Democratic Convention.

We'll see how everybody feels should Hillary Clinton be indicted.

I'm not going to bet my mortgage payment on the idea of Bernie Sanders supporters flocking to Trump in any kind of numbers that would make a difference.

Yeah I don't get that either.
If any do that they're the type whose attitude was more of a "blows against the empire" kind of thing than the appeal of actual Socialism.
I can't imagine Trump getting any of the true Socialist crowd.
So there may be some overlap but I don't expect the real Bernie believers are fighters against Globalism.

I saw something very recently that if Hillary was indicted, well over 70% of her Party would still vote for her.

That "racist" stuff gets tossed around easily.
When he joked that "He ran a gas station down in St. Louis." about Gandhi, you probably think that's racist too.

HuffPo blogger H. A. Goodman:

Since we don’t know the real reasons Clinton had the server, it’s only logical that Bernie Sanders is the true Democratic front-runner, regardless of delegate count. In the 2016 Democratic Primary, it’s never been about delegate count; it’s the fact Bernie Sanders has created a progressive political revolution, and isn’t linked to an FBI investigation.

As for the Espionage Act, the Top Secret data and deleted emails constitute not only carelessness, but “gross negligence” and perhaps far more. Ultimately, the great thing about Bernie Sanders is that he beats Trump by a much wider margin than Clinton, as I explain on CNN International and CNN New Day. He can also type an email without scandal, which is why Democrats must rally around Vermont’s Senator sooner than later. Democrats Must Rally Around Bernie Sanders Before Clinton Faces Possible Espionage Act Indictments

Tell us all about it after Clinton hands Trump his backside in November.

I'm begging you, shrub, please don't make another comment with "Hillary" and "backside" in the same sentence.
The visual image it conjures up is way too disturbing and, worse, it lingers.

I'm not familiar with the Gandhi joke but Paul Ryan, the top Republican in the United States government, called one of Trump's comments racist. If you have a problem with that, take it up with Speaker Ryan and the numerous other Republicans who appear to agree with him.

Why do you have to be familiar with the joke to judge if it was racist?
