Trump to sign executive order to build wall.

Ah so that explains why he is cutting funding for PBS. He needs it for the wall.

No kidding - 25 billion dollars worth.

Technically, those cuts alone would eventually pay for the wall at almost 500 million a year.

I thought Mexico was paying for the wall?

By the way, has Congress agreed to fork over the money for the wall yet? I haven't seen anything official from them.

It wont be enough- perhaps it may be enough to pay for the yearly maintenance. Estimates to build the wall is around $20-25 billion.

I'm sure that check from Mexico to pay for this wall is 'in the mail'.

Trump will run out to the mailbox everyday looking for that check. After-all he promised Mexico will be paying for it. So when he gets that check he'll let us know.

Mexico is supposed to pay us back, not sure how that is to be accomplished though.

I'm pretty sure they will.

No need to wait for a check. I would support using the same method citizens of Mexico use to get money after coming here illegally, he will just "steal" it.

$25 billion in remittances, and imports from Mexico. Lot's of cash flow to dip in to.

No problemo.

Speaking of which, where exactly does the power of the Executive Order end and the Budget Committee begin?

I doubt maintenance costs will be anywhere close to the 445 million annually. So eventually it would pay for it then and cover the maintenance. This isn't even counting any other cuts that are going to be implemented.

This guy is a total tool. He's going to go down in history as the most hated American president. And I'd wager that his own people are going to start turning in him within a year.

Just a fraction of Obama's bullet train.

That's a plausible estimate of time. He has the literally the lowest approval rating in the history approval polls going back to Eisenhower, which means that he has a very short distance to travel to 30%, at which point he'll have no political capital to achieve any goals beyond Executive Orders.

Fair question, I believe the answer is earmarks in appropriations versus general appropriations at the departments discretion.

Sigh. On the one hand, this is gonna put a lot of construction workers to work for a long time. On the other hand, aside from having a really huge, long wall, what will this actually accomplish? Really? I mean, that wall in China is at least a tourist attraction today. Ours will not be. What good is it actually going to do?

Some government contractor is going to make a lot of money.

And most people who live near the border don't want a wall running through their back yards. It those that live hundreds of miles away that are whining for one. A wall would be nothing more than a really expensive symbolic gesture.

1.A wall will make it harder for people to come into the country illegally. It will make it easier for border guards to control the border.Although I am sure you been told this many times already.

2.The great wall of China is actually a series of walls built over a 1,500 years in different parts of China. The Chinese built walls like the Egyptians and Mayans built tombs and pyramids. And for the most part they did work.

Lov him or hate him, you have to addmire a Candidate who is making good on campaign promises rather than getting into office and suddenly changing why he is who he is...

An elected official acting on a really dumb idea is simply an elected official acting on a dumb idea. Profiles in courage, this is not.
