Trump to deploy National Guard in response to Los Angeles immigration protests

Thank you very much. I'm not the least bit surprised that this supports my thinking. As with so many other things it's not what Trump wants to do that is wrong , it is how he goes about it. Deportations are not the issue , most are OK with that....

And what is the president to do when deportations are violently opposed by mobs?

Maybe the same as he did when the Capitol was violently attacked by mobs......nothing

Okay, so what should Trump have done then?
Sorry missed that.

Given that the President of the US has direct control over the NG in DC because there is no Governor, he should have called in the Guard as soon as the violence started to unfold.

In the case of CA ,where you have a Governor who has responsibility over the NG, he should have consulted with the Governor as stipulated in the law. If the Governor refused and if the situation escalated to a point where he felt that the situation was untenable then he could have ordered in the Guard.

There are protocols and laws and even Trump needs to follow them.

That is exactly what he did
No he didn't. Newsom said he never mentioned the Guard. Additionally, according to the law, even if he did it is the Governor that still deploys them.

The president issues the directive.
The governor has no authority at this point.

I make it as just around 66% his using the Insurrection Act to invoke military arrests locally, and around 30% that he would go so far as to invoke Marshall Law regionally or even nationally.

Where the hell do they get their information !!!
"Get"? "Information"? Assumes facts not in evidence. I think there are two sources, one is from their nether depository, sometimes euphemistically referred to as "their imagination"; the other is from their preferred propaganda node. Connections to fact or reality are not required.

Sadly, my friend, you are too optimistic, hopefully not fatally so.

Wrong yet again

"the President may call into Federal service members and units of the National Guard of any State in such numbers as he considers necessary to repel the invasion, suppress the rebellion, or execute those laws. Orders for these purposes shall be issued through the governors of the States or, in the case of the District of Columbia, through the commanding general of the National Guard of the District of Columbia"

Yes-- issued through the governor.

"Guv- we are federalizing the Guard"
Thats it

First off Trump never advised Newsom

Secondly, that means the Governor gives the order to the Guard not the President.

Trump spoke to him on Saturday.
Once the Guard is federalized, they are out of the control of governors

Never said they were BUT by law the Governor issues the actual deployment orders not the President. Trump violated the statute poa8n and simple. Not that it matters
