Though I suppose the "rebuild" part might get lost in the noise ...

I seriously don't know what they are saying with the "privilege" thing. Blacks don't call the cops if their house is being broken into? Or their neighbor is being beating or raped?

Would someone please tally up all the instances where villages, towns, unincorporated areas, cities and maybe even counties have reorganized, replaced, defunded or otherwise decertified a contract with police and other first responders?
You may be surprised to discover that it happens more often than you think.

Now, I grant that the reason is more often a fiscal one, but the mechanisms are mighty similar.

In the case of the City of Minneapolis, a lot of this centers around a decision by the City Council to exercise a sort of "nuclear option" a la Prince, to separate themselves from an abusive union relationship, because said union is attempting to exercise political control over police policy against the wishes of a succession of mayors and police chiefs. And it all springs from the war declared on those mayors and police chiefs, by one man, union president Bob Kroll, a man who is documented as a white supremacist.

We need to hear specifically what is intended to "replace" sending a police officer in response to a home invasion, rape or robbery in progress call would then be. Someone "official" suggested that expecting a (helpful?) police response to that call "comes from a place of privilege".
