Trump tells Chris Matthews: Women deserve ‘some form of punishment’ for abortion

He has never actually thought about any of these issues  which is why he cannot cogently defend or even stick to an idea.

That's what I get too. It's a little late in the game to just be winging it.

Why would you? Bernie will provide.....

The point is pro abortionists cant have it both ways. So there can be no emotional scars from a simple medical procedure.

Who said it was an emotionless simple medical procedure?

I actually think Trump may have finally peaked.

His fans have always rearward him for it in the past.

There is no such thing as a pro-abortionist. There are pro-choice, meaning that it is up to the individuals involved. If they decide against abortion, that is fine. That's because they are not pro-abortion, but are pro-choice.

There are, however, anti-abortionists. Which means that there is no right path except NO abortion. Meaning those people are anti-abortion.

Let's get our terminology right. Your extremist language doesn't fool anyone. It appears you know you can't win a logical or reasonable argument, so you resort to lying. But it doesn't fool anyone. It just makes the argument appear foolish.

So if one believes abortion should be limited till 8 weeks unless there is a medical necessity is that pro or anti abortion?

And yes, there are "pro abortionists".

Who said it was an emotionless simple medical procedure?

Why would it be emotional? It's not a life, its a clump of cells, or as some pro abortionists call it a "parasite" (too stupid to realize calling it a parasite admits its a life, but i difress)

Dont ask me. I've not ever had an abortion but I've had surgery and I can't imagine any surgery being non-emotional.

That is obviously a pro-choice position.

And whatever you believe about "pro-abortionists" is meaningless- i doubt anyone here could qualify.

So what about limited to 1 week?

Tell me, within that week, what would the pregnant woman be able to do ? Are they always forced to give birth or could they CHOOSE another option ?

Plan B (the morning after pill) is not an abortifacient, it prevents the pregnancy rather than terminating it.

In my opinion, there is no question, we should almost all consider ourselves pro-choice. The meaningful distinction is where to draw the line for elective abortions.

so, is that a yes or a no?

As to this interview I'll give trump two things to his credit.

1. He said out loud what most pro lifers don't have the balls to say because they are political cowards.

2. Chris Mathews is an enormous jackass whose interview style is interruptive and is nothing more than a self promotion tool rather than an informative method. Can't stand watching him.

What is terrible is how the media and the anti-Trumpeteers twist what he says.

For instance:

When read with the bolded qualifier, it's a no duh!

His known position, that he is pro-choice with exceptions, is at odds with the republican platform. Taking that into account this statement simply says the party is going to have to finally decide where they are at on this issue. Are they going to send folks to jail over what can be a harrowing choice?

He's not advocating a "punishment", he's saying that if the party gets it's way, there will have to be a punishment involved.

He's already come out saying he doesn't hold with the party on this.

So what you are saying is the reporting of Trump news and events "What is terrible is how the media and the anti-Trumpeteers twist what he says."

It would seem the issue causing you problems is reports which show Trump in a light you do not want to know or others to know..............That's called "living in a dream world" which cannot be covered by saying "That ain't so" and most shockingly.........blaming some one else for telling............

Now please understand what you say is not so until you prove otherwise........

Can you do so?

I doubt it because all of the reports I have read from responsible and reliable news outlets ALL report the same.........

I don't think that is true at all. Trump is a big government, pro-life liberal who saying what he thinks people on the right want to hear. You could actually see Trump mulling over his position right there on the spot. He has clearly not thought this through at all. And I have never heard anyone say they wanted women punished. They want the practice stopped.

I don't know. He asks tough questions--of people on the right. He exposed Trump through his questioning and if that helps keep the guy out of the White House, then good for him

Dude hates Bernie too so I wouldn't exactly say he only holds the rights feet to the fire. Mathews is a massive establishment tool.

After the interview, the Trump campaign released a statement from the candidate saying: "This issue is unclear and should be put back into the states for determination. Like Ronald Reagan, I am pro-life with exceptions, which I have outlined numerous times."

It's pretty amazing, but not shocking, how terrible the man is at answering tough questions on the spot - particularly when he is forced to actually answer the question instead of turning the process around as he attempted to do several times during this interview.

The ultimate Conservative cop-out line: they never have to stand for anything when its "put back to the states for determination"

Good post. I am 'anti abortion' but only in the sense that I'm all for birth control as by far the better option. Swedish teen pregnancy rates are very low - because imo the relentless birth control education in Swedish schools.
