Trump says he want's $2,000 checks not $600

Are you okay with your hard-earned tax dollars being spent like this?
Yes.

Most of that IS, in fact, connected to the pandemic. Education, mass transit, and cultural organizations are all getting hit hard. $110 billion for additional education spending is chicken scratch compared to the gaping holes caused by the pandemic.

So, that means a whopping 0.001% of the bill goes to Pakistan for foreign aid. HOLY SHIT STOP THE WHOLE F****** BILL!!!! No, wait, it's not a big deal. Even Lindsay Graham is defending that allocation (https://www.cnsnews.com/blog/craig-...m-pakistani-gender-programs-life-pretty-tough).

Similarly, total student loan debt in the US is over $1.6 trillion. Allocating $23 billion to that is spitting in the wind.

What on earth are you talking about?
The Republican branch of the UniParty tried to tell their rank and file who the nominee would be (Jeb, then Marco, then Ted). The rank and file told them to pound sand and made Trump the nominee.

There is no reason (except fear or not caring) why the Democratic rank and file can't do the same.

The people are not "toothless".

Trump appears to have no clue as to the responsibilities of the president and acts more like he's a glorified Fox News Infotainer.

Pretty sorry response. It's sounds like it's all a game to you, while millions starve and face eviction.
It is a game. The government is improperly divided, causing the political chaos that trickles down causing the social chaos.
You may not like Trump, but for the Democrats to nominate Biden with all his baggage, it is a very strange evolution.

Democratic rank and file probably recognize the danger of elevating a demagogue.

What baggage is that?

trump knows his base, poor people who are struggling to make the rent.

He's a populist who'll say whatever he thinks his base wants to hear.

What's great is that congress only wants to give money to the rich, not the poor. Now trump will force the republican congress to give to the poor.

lol

Who was the genius who came up with this expression?

King Orange or Die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

President Donald Trump, in a stunning Tuesday night tweet, called the $900 billion Covid relief bill passed by Congress an unsuitable “disgrace” and urged lawmakers to make a number of changes to the measure, including bigger direct payments to individuals and families.

House Democrats, who hold a majority in the chamber, will seek to see if they can pass a measure for $2,000 direct payments by unanimous consent Thursday, Christmas Eve, NBC News reported, citing a senior Democratic aide. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer did not specify the day, but said in a tweet that the vote would happen this wee

WOW! Has anybody asked him why he didn't say this months ago? I'd love to hear his answer.
Strictly for the entertainment value, of course.
;)

What is a "disgrace" is his leadership and the inability of his staff to work with Congress to get what the President would like to see or accept in a stimulus bill.

I was under the impression his Sect. of Treasury was working with Congressional leaders in developing the package.

imo, Trump is also confused that the Bill contained the rest of 2021 funding for the federal Government. That is why there is foreign aid dollars in the Omnibus bill.

Trump has never been particularly relevant to policymaking. Now less than ever.

But good on Pelosi for calling his bluff to remind folks that the GOP opposes more generous checks.
This is great for Senate Democrats trying to re-take the chamber.

It's not good for average Americans and impoverished Americans and the economy.

You're correct. Mnuchin was his "representative" in all this. So did he tell Mnuchin and Mnuchin just forgot to deliver the message? Or did he just not tell him?

Either answer makes Trump look like shit.

I hope people remember this when voting in Georgia. Inept Republicans.

Then of course he rants a bunch of lies about how Dems blocked Covid relief all summer.

Pelosi just called this Republican bluff...

Trump doesn’t give a damn about any of this. He is playing games.

He is playing games, for sure. He's burning everything he can to the ground.

That being said, this stimulus package is pathetic. It's nothing but pork and grift with some measly pittance thrown at the People to hopefully get them to not bitch about it.

23 Billion is "spitting in the wind"? It could pay off nearly all the student debt of POC's.

My prediction, the GOP will balk, refuse Trump's $2,000 checks, and still blame the Dems for it.
What's really funny is all of a sudden Pelosi is willing to work with Trump on the Covid relief bill.

If $2000 direct payments are agreed upon, the bill will probably eclipse $1.4 trillion. Again, you're just making baseless assumptions as that's all one can expect from you.
Pelosi is going to want to stack the additional Covid money on top of the pork in the bill.
I hope Joe actually deletes Trumps tax cut and raises taxes across the board. Someone has to pay the bills, and it should start on the first dollar.

To be expected. Like most of what comes out of a "bi-partisan" Congress, under no fundamental campaign finance reform laws, what you will invariably get is a stimul-them, instead of a stimul-us.

$23 billion is 1.4% of the total outstanding student debt. That's chicken scratch.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for working on the student debt issue. However, I'm certainly not going to complain about aid for secondary education in a COVID bill.

Spare me the faux outrage. The pork amounts to pennies on the dollar (if that).

Someone has to pay the bills, and it should start on the first dollar.

SMH....

There is absolutely zero rationale for raising taxes... even on the higher income earners... during an economic downturn caused by a massive supply and demand shock.
