We need to send a message that ONLY legal entry will provide a possible path to being allowed to remain in the U.S. beginning now.

If we let them come legally to fill the labor needs of our economy, that would largely end illegal immigration.

Then border patrol could focus on the tiny percentage that come with nefarious purposes rather then spending all their time busting hard working farm hands and hotel maids

And what I've proposed would do just that.

What I've suggested would be a small price to pay for breaking our Federal immigration laws. As an option I would accept documenting them in place, as having committed a Federal felony with no path to citizenship, allowed to remain and work as long as they commit no crimes which would result in immediate deportation. Or they would have the option to leave the U.S. and enter legally after a short period of time.
