Trump: "Our doctors get more money if someone dies of COVID"

Please, please, PLEASE get here, November 3rd! I'm begging! Please get here quickly, November 3rd! I'm even willing to skip November 1 and 2 if that's what it takes! But please, I'm begging!

.

I don’t know... Trump still has a pretty good chance to get re-elected. The polls are showing some narrowing... I hate to say it, but it’s smelling a little like 2016 again, with a last minute catch up. No one thought Bush Jr could possibly win a second term either.

Trump is the worst con man ever.

But he did learn the Rush/Sean way to con the Republican base so I guess that makes him a decent con man. Or copycat.

I am no fan of Trump, but what he has done is more than just decent. There is absolutely some kind of genius to what he is doing with his base. I am sure historians, sociologists, psychologists, political scientists, etc.... will be studying this Trump phenomenon for years to come. It has been fascinating watching this kind of mob psychology in action. Brilliant. Pure genius. We will be marveling at it, much like we read about Jim Jones and the loyalty and devotion of his cult. Not everyone can understand so intuitively and talk so boldly to the deepest visceral impulses, needs, and secret desires of such a large group of people like that to inspire and then exploit such passionate loyalty.

There absolutely is some kind of genius to it.

Or maybe it's simply a reliance on the naivete and gullibility of the poorly educated whom Trump expressed his love for? That really doesn't take a genius to exploit, but your points are well taken.

OMG! You are calling historical incompetence brilliance!

If you are going to make such an outlandish statement, shouldn't you build your case by showing and proving you statement though facts and events that show why you think that?

This post has no examples that back your opinion. To me, it is pure incompetence and him trying to invent reasons for why it should be seen as brilliance instead of what it is, incompetence. What has he actually accomplished with this "brilliance" that you suggest he has. Brilliance is normally shown with positive results that end up with some unexpected and great benefit. What benefit to us has he accomplished? How are we better off for him having been here? Do explain (if you can)! Otherwise, to me it is pure TDS (Trump Devotion Syndrome)

I hope you are for the Packers, because the Vikings are going to lose.

In my case, I don't want to miss the Dolphin/Rams game tomorrow. Tua makes his debut and he is supposed to be the future of the Dolphins, much like Marino was. I am excited to watch him in his first NFL game.

I can tell you I couldn’t do it, no matter how hard I tried. I think it may be a combination of his background growing up around them and knowing the culture- the construction workers, the slum-lords his dad worked with, etc... he seems to have internalized and have an intuitive sense of the culture of his base. He may be a billionaire, but his roots and background is in that culture. He is an uneducated construction worker at heart himself- just one of the wealthiest ones. But he was never really ever accepted by the true intellectual and social elite of Manhattan, no matter how hard he tried. He was just way too unsophisticated, uneducated, too boorish, his manners and speech too boorish and coarse. Everywhere he went it was clear to all that he was just an unrefined, foul mouthed, uneducated construction worker, complete with the cussing, the cat whistles at every broad who walked by, the foul manners, etc... and didn’t matter how big his bank account, or how much he boasted and inflated it to try to fit in.

And what to make of his “Ivy League education” he keeps talking about? It was clearly just bought by his dad. He clearly has the vocabulary, rhetoric, and level of thinking of a middle schooler. It’s hard to imagine how he would be allowed to graduate high school with that, let alone go to some Ivy League school.

So this background has allowed him now to turn on those educated “elites” who spurned and rejected him for so long with a vengeance. If they refused to let him in, he would burn their house down.

I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying. He may be incompetent at governance, but he has been brilliant at understanding the masses at a visceral level and then exploiting that for personal power and advancement.

This is in the same way that I would say Hitler was brilliant, or the Ayatollah Khomeini. These are all masters of demagoguery. I know those guys didn’t really accomplish much for their countries- and actually destroyed them. But to inspire that level of passion and loyalty- that’s brilliant. I know I couldn’t do that no matter how hard I tried, could you? I couldn’t keep a straight face long enough.

I guess this means that you believe Rev. Jim Jones was brilliant also, right? After all, 918 people killed themselves because he said they should. You can't get anymore "brilliant" than convincing people to kill themselves for your ideals, can you?

To that I would add his evident insecurity; exemplified by his attacks on anyone he perceives as challenging him intellectually, or anyone who actually achieved their position in life through hard work and dedication to their craft. The attacks are a clear defense mechanism; projecting his own failings and inabilities onto others. Please excuse my attempt at amateur psychology, but I think I'm pretty near the mark.

Yes, I would say there certainly was a brilliance to Jim Jones. You and I could never dream of inspiring that level of devotion, love, loyalty, or obedience by such large masses- no matter how hard we tried. It takes an intuitive and deep understanding of what makes those people tick, and then knowing expertly how to manipulate and exploit it.

Trump has been even more impressive than Jones- Very rare to see anyone be able to pull that off at such a national level in a country the size of the US. Probably the biggest con job in American history. Can’t help but be impressed.

Brilliance to me is doing something the right way and gain that kind of loyalty. It is very very hard to do things the right way and to the point that others follow you in becoming better people. That to me is brilliance. Trump is brilliant in conning and lying to people in making them believe his lies but that kind of action is not brilliance but simply knowledge of knowing the weaknesses in people and long experience in doing it. Much like learning to lie convincingly.

Yes; acknowledging and recognising brilliance doesn't necessarily imply condoning or approving of whatever the example is.

It was reported today that since Covid-19 became serious, Hospitals in general have lost upwards of 400 billion dollars. That's right, it's billion with a 'B'. They have had to cancel elective surgery's, a significant part of their income.

Trump is just a lying moron who must be sued for every penny he has.
Well every penny Putin has, everyone knows Trump has no money of his own...

Sure- that is exactly the sense of brilliance I am talking about. Some people are such expert liars you have to admire it.

Trump’s brilliance at demagoguery is formidable indeed. Underestimate those skills at your peril.

We already have such history that has been studied, Hitler.

I'm a life long Vikings fan living in Wisconsin.

The Vikings are more than capable of beating the Packers...

There will be many movies made about the guy who conned a nation...

Listening to that clip of Trump speaking, then looking at his enablers/supporters in this thread respond... Trump did succeed at one thing, dumbing down America.

Not really genius, and it says more about the people who like him than him. He has a cult personality, and could probably lead a bunch of people up a mountain to kill themselves for Aliens if he wanted.

His presidency is playing out a bit like his business dealings. Lots of fan fair but no real success stories. He likes the attention as a narcissist would, but he can't follow through with a good direction once he gets it. It just stops at getting attention.

If he would have handled this pandemic well, and if he directed his followers to do so he would have easily won a second term. Without a doubt. Trump and his followers simply liked the gatherings, the support, it wasn't about the big picture. A Genius would have known that.

Just like his casino ventures, they COULD have been a success but his personality got in the way. Same with his presidency. He's just mentally ill, and can't help ruining it all because there is no reason for the attention. He just likes it. It stops with that. As he says, I like people who like me, doesn't matter who they are. Unfortunately, a president has to help America even if some people in it don't like you. Itś not about that. It's about running a country.

Itś pretty obvious he just used it all as a stage and he's not smart enough to run a country well.

Says a lot about a nation that can't recognize that. This election will tell whether we actually like it or if it was a mistake, and we let a fox in by accident.

If he gets a second term, that will be really telling.

it's just the same thing that Rush and Sean do daily. Trump just does it louder (that's his thing).

There have been documented cases of vehicular deaths being listed as COVID deaths. When the government subsidizes something it's going to be inflated.

Suicide? Drug overdose? Black people gunned down by racist klansmen police officers? You tell me.

Equating a figurehead with "the government" is a sign you don't understand how Washington works.

Granted, the real government lies frequently (claiming that masks don't work, for instance), so the comparison is not wrong.

Again, we are comparing ALL DEATHS this year vs previous years and we see a clear spike. Why are so many more people dying this year than last year all over the world?

You can't possibly be stupid enough to think that it's because of suicide and drug overdone but not a deadly respiratory virus global pandemic.

Doctors and nurses are putting their lives on the lives to save people and Trump is accusing them of lying about the deaths to make money. It's disgusting.

This line of thought is as stupid as flat earthers.

The doctors who saved him probably regret it now. Just when you thought he couldn't sink any lower he finds a way.

Instead of taking responsibility for his bad record on coronavirus, he claims doctors are lying for money. Everyone is a liar except Donald.

Here is the actual excess death rate statistics. No, we're not doing better than Germany.

How do conservatives who always complain about Soviet-style governments live with the fact that their government is lying to them just like the Soviets did during Chernobyl or China did during the pandemic?

Absolutely nothing is more hated and intolerant to most progressive Democrats than facts.

Absolutely nothing is more hated and intolerant to most progressive Democrats than facts.

You have no facts. The government (Trump) is lying to cover up their failures. The number of deaths makes the government look bad so the government tries to discredit the doctors.

I don't think even the Soviets ever went this far.

What's next? The people on ventilators are really inflatable dolls? The coffins that are flooding mortuaries are really empty? How far down the rabbit hole of shocking stupidity are you willing to go?
