Trump orders rapid withdrawal from Syria in apparent reversal

What does Putin have to do with this except in the biased minds of deranged democrats whose heads are overfilled with Trump/Russian conspiracy theories?

Putin and trump are best friends. Putin and Assad are best friends. Therefore it is very obvious putin influenced trump's decision re withdrawing troops from Syria. Or would you like me to draw you a picture?

So glad that this portion of our undeclared endless war is now ending. I don't really care who ends it. We had no business being there in the first place.

Side note, I'm really sick of the President (again, I don't care which one) using his power to deploy "interventions" all over the place. These should all require congressional approval.

To make this worse israel is siding more with russia on this than with america, as russia brought stability their and even though they can not control iran they have far more sway, and russia has not objected to israel handling their defense albiet restricted after the russian turbo propr was shot down, meaning they must clear it well ahead of time with russia. Now there is iran, long time ally of syria, who has no plans of letting their ally fall. Now add russia who has had troops there since the 70's, they too will not just let someone take their ally.

Now it gets more confusing, iraq is supposed to be on americas side, but has sided with iran and syria on fighting isis, then there is turkey who has done nearly nothing against isis and wants assad gone but has ceded to assad staying over groups like the ypg and pkk, the former the us backs while the latter is not. This creates a massive fiasco where there is no win for the us, it is like a five way tug of war that if fought to the end would still be raging until there era of your great grandchildren, there is a time when it must be realized there is no winning this war, it is either just leaving or to stay forever, as all foreign involvment outside the country itself and it's firect alies will lead to never ending conflict.

Best post by a socialist this year, spot on analysis!

This is absolutely the worst analysis of the Syrian conflict I have seen to date. Full of errors and falsehoods, no incite into military issues in general or the Syrian conflict specifically, and obviously no understanding of geopolitics. The only thing beerftw got right was the names of the main participants and the fact that Syrians have lived in Syria. Mattis and Haley (I wouldn't credit Trump other than he put the right people in charge) have already positioned us to win this conflict. All that's needed is our resolve.

Putin is pleased...To see the US Military cut and run

So are the majority of Americans. I couldn't care less if Putin is pleased or not, there is simply no reason to have our troops in not just Syria but the entire region. It is time we stopped these idiotic wars.

You are seeing stunning hypocrisy from liberals.

After years and years of an anti-war stance they all of a sudden care about defeating ISIS and bringing democracy to Syria.

But one thing is clear. Liberals care about defeating ISIS, which reflects a clear failure on Obama's tenure as president.

That is more likely from the constant infusion of cash than from our mlitary efforts.
...no, the cash is (currently and for the foreseeable future) a necessary prerequisite for GIRoA's continued survival, sure, but without military intervention, GIRoA does not exist.

American soldiers have been deployed in at least 150 of the world's 195 countries for decades.
Counting the Marine Guards in Embassies, again? :) Or just the mil-to-mil relations?

Oh please. We liberals could see what trump was playing at. He announces that ISIS has been defeated and his base will cheer and celebrate. When ISIS gains in power and starts murdering more innocent people in Syria and around the world - trump will come out and and order more troops to fight ISIS and his base and scared Americans will happily vote for him again in 2020.

This is what dubya did and trump is following his playbook to the letter.

Who cares about all the innocent people who will be KILLED because of the actions of Assad, Putin, trump and ISIS.
Fun Fact: what you are blaming on "Dubya" was actually, in the real world, performed by "Obama", who did, in fact, pull us out and then send us back in when AQI/ISIS regrew.

You say Putin and Trump are best friends. What an unsupported democrat propagandist statement. Under those biased guidelines Obama is even closer best friends with murderous Muslim terrorist leaders in Iran. Trump gave no money to Putin and Putin gave no money to Trump. Obama gave $1.7 billion to terrorists and Putin gave millions to the Clintons leading up to the 2016 election.

Trump is Putin's lil puppet. Putin has the infamous 'pee-pee tapes.'..Trump dare not cross his puppet master's path..

After we killed more than 200 Russian mercenaries and wiped out ISIS in Syria remind me again exactly why we should risk American sons blood?

If you actually think ISIS is 'wiped out' you are sadly mistaken. We've seen this game before. These are ultra-radical religious extremists who have repeatedly stated and demonstrated they love killing Americans, even to committing suicide. They aren't going away. Do you want to fight them here, or fight them over there ?. Why do you think GOP Senators are finally standing up against Trump on this issue?

The war in Syria is part of the Obama legacy. Withdrawal from Syria is one more nail in the Obama legacy coffin.

Donnie yesterday: ISIS in Syria is defeated!

Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump

We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency.

Donnie, less than 24 hours later: ISIS is not defeated...in fact, everyone is mad we won't help to fight them anymore!

....Russia, Iran, Syria & many others are not happy about the U.S. leaving, despite what the Fake News says, because now they will have to fight ISIS and others, who they hate, without us. I am building by far the most powerful military in the world. ISIS hits us they are doomed!

What a ****ing moron.

Are you implying that Trump makes his foreign policy decisions based on destroying Obama's legacy?

Looks like Putin snapped his fingers again and made trump his bitch yet again...

Trump orders rapid withdrawal from Syria in apparent reversal

Planning is underway for a "full" and "rapid" withdrawal of US troops from Syria, a US defense official told CNN Wednesday.

The decision, which would be a reversal from previously stated US policy, was made by President Donald Trump, who has long signaled his desire to get out of Syria, the official added. On Wednesday morning, the President tweeted, "we have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency."

It looks like Trump is trying to use this false claim of winning to tamp down the Michael Flynn traitor backlash.
That's where my money would be wagered.
No matter, though, still a colossally stupid decision made only by him.
Typical Trump douchebag decision.

Exactly the childish nature of Trump's thinking.
And then there is Putin.

You guys are just too funny. You blast Republicans for being hell bent on wars and then when Trump gets us out of one, you blast him for that. Apparently now you want war.

The real problem here isn’t the withdrawal per se. it’s that Trump apparently woke up yesterday morning and decided to withdraw. He seems to have made the decision without talking to anyone.

That is not leadership. That is insanity.

Do you think Trump knows more about the Syrian/ISIS issue than the GOP Senators and battle seasoned generals who are vehemently against this move Moderate Right?

Oh hell, things are getting serious now!!

.@LindseyGrahamSC just told me to expect him to tweet back at the president every time he tweets about Syria. "I'm not letting this go."

You don't know that he hasn't talked to anyone. ISIS is gone from Syria and that's why we were there. Trump even had this in his campaign in 2016. The left would have us believe that he just woke up one morning and changed. We've known for 2 years that we would get out of Syria when ISIS was defeated there.

Listen to the Democratic Party of war rant "Not enough Americans dying! War! War!"

Syria has been in the Russian sphere for over half a century. We should have never been in Syria in the first place.

I know that one of Trump's campaign promises was to get us out of Syria and voters voted him president. Who runs the country anyway, voters or GOP Senators? But, it is nice to know that you have such high regard for GOP Senators. Did you have that same high regard during the Kavannaugh hearings?
