Revealed: leader of group peddling bleach as coronavirus 'cure' wrote to Trump this week | World news | The Guardian

The leader of the most prominent group in the US peddling potentially lethal industrial bleach as a “miracle cure” for coronavirus wrote to Donald Trump at the White House this week.

In his letter, Mark Grenon told Trump that chlorine dioxide – a powerful bleach used in industrial processes such as textile manufacturing that can have fatal side-effects when drunk – is “a wonderful detox that can kill 99% of the pathogens in the body”. He added that it “can rid the body of Covid-19”.

...Grenon styles himself as “archbishop” of Genesis II – a Florida-based outfit that claims to be a church but which in fact is the largest producer and distributor of chlorine dioxide bleach as a “miracle cure” in the US. He brands the chemical as MMS, “miracle mineral solution”, and claims fraudulently that it can cure 99% of all illnesses including cancer, malaria, HIV/Aids as well as autism.

Yeah, so much for all that "I was being sarcastic!" crap. :doh

I think Dear Leader should lead by example and show us the wonders of this new chemical in action.

I don't know, I think if this guy is able to get the president of the United States to advertise his normal bleach as a cure-all magical bleach that can cure pandemics, maybe he deserves the money. :lamo

Trump's stupidity still somehow manages to surprise me.

We just need a man in a wizard costume to tell him it cures impotence and obesity and he might just drink it.

Toss in reversing hair loss and creating a natural looking sun tan and he would chug a gallon while his IV bag of it emptied into his vein. ;)

And it cures hair loss.

No, he wasn't being sarcastic.

This is his attempt at defense, and not a very good one...or even a necessary one IMHO.

But for Trump, not unexpected once his simple question as someone with no medical training, or understanding of "disinfectant" might ask of the medical experts, was blown up as "look how stupid he is" by the MSM.

IMO this is one time he should have simply said, "I was asking a question about any kind of medical treatment that would work like disinfectant."

Or laugh it off as, "well I thought it might be something, I should have known better."

Well, can't really blame them. If I asked my doctors back in 2007 if I could kill off the MRSA in my bloodstream by injecting or injesting disinfectant I guarantee I would've received a shocked response.

I think what he said is slightly less important than what he was attempting to do. It was a government briefing on a national pandemic. Why on earth would the president think that during a press briefing, where the entire purpose should be answering questions and getting out the latest and most important info to people, would be a good place to spit ball treatment options. Even if he had said something that was interesting or wasn't outright idiotic, why there? People are tuning in for info and facts.

Oh please, the right blew up when Obama wore a tan suit. I still hear how Gore claimed to have invented the internet.

lol

It's not some simple question, everyone knows not to ingest disinfectant. The fact Trump even brought it up does show how completely ignorant he is of any of this. And yet he's sidelining medical research doctors who won't support his claim to unproven drugs.

Sheesh.

Worst President in time of medical crisis ever.

Good point...normally.

But if you've been following the briefings, most members of the Press Corps have not been seeking "facts" or asking valid questions.

They are using it to ask loaded questions, with only one purpose, make him look as bad as possible no matter what he (or anyone else expert or no) says.

So IMO he has come to think of this situation as more of a conference, with "brainstorming" to make it look like he is either more informed, or willing to be informed on the spot.

This time it blew up in his face because the MSM made it a big deal. I would have advised him to respond the way you saw in my post. But I am not Trump's "advisor." ;)

You really believe that don't you? No matter what the man says or how stupid, you will defend it.

(Sigh) Not at all true...as anyone who checks my post history will find.

Case in point, my response to his attempt to pretend his question was sarcasm posted in this very thread today.

The fact that YOU are making a universal assertion based on your assumptions and confirmation bias is something for you to consider in future responses.

Because he is stupid. You don't need to have "medical training" as you say, to know not to drink bleach or disinfectants. Nor should you even open your mouth so stupidly, when speaking nationally from the bully pulpit.

Of course, it's the press's fault  You defend the president in literally the exact same way that the bad parents of children in my 6 year old's class defend their child. It's never their child's fault that they get in trouble or aren't learning. Its the other kids in the class, or it's the teacher etc.

You know he spent 750K on this magical bleach for our new ready-for-anything pandemic response stockpile.

Florida Man is in charge.

Did he say "drink bleach or disinfectants?"

I don't recall that being said. I recall his asking is there any disinfectant which could be used internally...but I don't recall him asking or suggesting people "drink bleach or disinfectants."

That is hyperbolic nonsense, and you know better. :coffeepap:

You have posted that you are very familiar with Trump, have you ever heard anything close to these words uttered by him?

Exactly (with the bolded). To think someone this stupid has the power & authority to fire the guy in charge of developing the covid vacinne! :doh

He'll never lead us out of this ...

Thank you for saying it better than I did.

Does anyone realize how much credit Trump would get if he came out, introduced the experts, gave a very brief 5 minute or less pre-written and factual statement about happenings in congress or policy changes in the government to help fight the virus and then let the experts speak? His approval rating would jump 5% or more over night. The bar is set so incredibly low for him. So absolutely incredibly low.

How would disinfectant get “internal?”

??

He asked if it could be done? Put them in one's body? You're arguing irrelevant technicality.

I watch the pressers every night. He doesn't even let them ask their questions.

Stop defending him so vehemently. He is screwing up badly, and everyone knows it.
