I note that these allegations seem to have cropped up after he became vocal in taking political positions that were not liked by the Bush-Cheny whitehouse.

Wikipedia is well known to not be a reliable source of information on anyone or anything related to political controversy, because it can be easily rigged by activists.
It's only useful for non-controversial things/people, like say technical topics.

That is, rid the region of a state that promotes terror throughout the Middle East.

But even so... even with all of the Doctor Strangeloves and John Foster Dulleses and Edwin Tellers and all of the menagerie of the Nuclear Age, we've managed not to blow ourselves to Kingdom Come as of yet.... Curtis LeMay recommended we pre-emptively attack the USSR before they gained the ability to hit back effectively. Yet we never did so, and all of his nightmare scenarios still never came to pass.

I don’t think people spent a lot of time thinking about which would be worse: being vaporized by a nuclear bomb or living under threat of same forever.

Actually it's the US intelligence findings on Iran's development of a nuclear weapon tangent which has nothing to do with The Left™ because Gabbard was his appointment. So perhaps it's best you clean up after yourself and take your own garbage an put it in its proper place since you've come to this discussion woefully underprepared if you didn't even know what the intelligence community reported on.

Exactly.

Persian civilization goes back to the Achaemenid Dynasty in 6th Century BC. They've been around awhile. I can't imagine they're in any more of a hurry to have themselves vaporized than we are.
