The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.
And he faces life imprisonment or execution for it.Another step toward martial law. The President of South Korea declared martial law last December. That stood for one day before the assembly nullified it. President Yoon Suk Yeol was then impeached and thrown out of office.
Just sayin'.
I expect that the demographics of those serving in the armed forces roughly match the demographics of the wider population, which means there is good reason to believe that some 30% of those serving in the military are loyal first and only to Donald John Trump, while the other 70% are loyal to the Constitution. Therefore that insurgency will start within the military itself. The military has enjoyed significant respect in the last few decades because people recognized that they did their jobs according to the Constitution.
If Trump succeeds in politicizing the military and using it as a tool to attack Americans, they will run the risk of being regarded as nothing more than guard dogs for an emperor and they
will face the largest insurgency in human history.
This is a defining moment and a crossroads and I pray that our soldiers remember that their duty is to the Constitution, not to a man.
This is the kind of stuff you see in banana republics, and what you can end up with are factions of the military loyal to the leader and others not so much, so if there's a coup things go all sorts of sideways.I expect that the demographics of those serving in the armed forces roughly match the demographics of the wider population, which means there is good reason to believe that some 30% of those serving in the military are loyal first and only to Donald John Trump, while the other 70% are loyal to the Constitution. I hope it doesn't happen, but the sad reality is that there are likely several hundred thousand people in our armed forces who have sworn fealty to Donald Trump and will hate whom he tells them to hate, fight whom he tells them to fight, and kill whom he tells them to kill. So, this is really about everybody else in the armed forces, and getting the message out to them that there will come a time when they may need to protect the rest of the population from some of their own fellow soldiers.
I'd like to think our armed forces would be different, but frankly speaking I have no basis from which to defend that belief. They are ultimately just regular human beings like everybody else. They consume the same media. They'll accept or reject the same lies or narratives. So, it stands to reason that today, right now, a small but significant percentage of our soldiers and fighters are loyal to Donald and Donald alone. This is the kind of stuff you see in banana republics, and what you can end up with are factions of the military loyal to the leader and others not so much, so if there's a coup things go all sorts of sideways.

Laws don't matter anymore. Is this not a violation of the Hatch Act?

There won’t be anyone left to prosecute them…….What is supposed to separate us FROM Banana Land is the fact that our military has ALWAYS sworn an oath to the Constitution whereas in many other countries they swear an oath to a person, usually an absolute monarch, dictator or entrenched leader of a virtual one party system where the party controls ALL candidates.
Also, we have the Uniform Code of Military Justice which specifically warns against obeying orders which are repugnant to the Constitution.
If they are swearing loyalty to Trump, they are breaking the law, violating the Constitution and setting themselves up for court martial or worse.
Laws don't matter anymore.
And you know what that means.
There won’t be anyone left to prosecute them…….
Nailed it.Yeah... Washington called it
Do the Unitary Executive freaks actually read the words that were said all those years ago?
Let's hope it is "if" not "when".The military has enjoyed significant respect in the last few decades because people recognized that they did their jobs according to the Constitution.

Have you looked at our "assembly"?Another step toward martial law. The President of South Korea declared martial law last December. That stood for one day before the assembly nullified it. President Yoon Suk Yeol was then impeached and thrown out of office.
