Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from new tariffs

An educated guess says the market will take very kindly to this news. Democrats are likely to be pissed because 1) They hate Trump and anything good for the economy boosts his sagging poll numbers. And 2.) Sounds like a lot of Democrats have pulled their money from the market and are sitting on the sidelines further rubbing salt in the wound.


And don't feel singled out. I heard of many republicans who were just as stupid as their liberal counterparts and pulled their money from the markets when Obama and Biden had rough stretches.

Maybe another case of insider trading/market manipulation. I know that may not have occurred to you but I believe it's highly likely this change of mind and the pause of the initial tariffs were orchestrated to make some people a lot of money. Trump as much as said so in the oval office.

If you think this will boost his sagging poll numbers I think you will be very disappointed. Most people are seeing the chaotic way he is approaching trade as a negative. His backtracking is being seen as a sign of weakness and poor planning, not what people look for in a leader.

NOTHING that happens in 2.0 is meant to benefit anyone other than the ultra wealthy.

Average Americans may get a trickle down or random bone around culture wars thrown their way but that’s so Dear Leader can get his fill of adoration. Gotta make the seals clap every once in a while. And keep their attention and devotion.

This is about the accumulation of wealth and power for a very small minority.

There are trade barriers in Lesotho that we have to knock down? Sri Lanka is a market where the US has been treated unfairly?

It's just so stupid.

The effects of place huge tariffs on these small poor countries means that these countries... who rely on paying for oil with US dollars... can't get those dollars because they will sell even less to the US than they already do.

It is thoughtless punishment of the poorest people for literally no reason.

So if China is the big baddie... why did Trump feel the need to pick a fight with the entire world?

It's because he is an idiot with no plan.
