Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from new tariffs

That doesn't line up with Fox "News" and their narrative. We don't want their chips because it's a matter of national security...
It's absolutely amazing how tight the air bubble is around the maga cult. That guy can 180 day after day after day and they don't ever question anything. They just hand right there with him no matter where he goes. The perfect definition of what a cult is.

This guy has no plan. Clearly the Execs of these tech companies got to him. Now there will be no tarrifs on exactly the things he wants to bring back to the US ! So it will be those who shop at Walmart and Dollar stores will be the ones left to suffer because they have no power.
This. In a nutshell.

I've always maintained de-coupling from China is impossible.. maybe 10 years from now if our semiconductor industry and assembly gets bigger
That was the beauty of the Phase 1. it was negotiated, not just thrown together over tariffs.

We are going to have to win market share long haul .China will continue it's malign trade. Trump only has 4 years, - focus on growing the US manufacturing is the best that can be done -maybe some small reforms w/China

Trump is a ****ing loser.

I hated him before, but now I hate him and I also think he's weak.

This will have a big impact on his other policies. People know he's weak. People know he's a loser.

Actually, the loyalists are wearing gold bust pins of trump. Maga is just one huge ass kissing factory.

As I always say Trumpists are the biggest cucks on planet Earth.

******s, all of them.

Things are turning out much like I thought 10 or so years ago.

China started to develop its own brands, both domestically and internationally. A vital step for its development. Something it did not have during Bush 2 administration.

It has a nearly fully developed ecosystem for the development and manufacturing of most high tech devices. Lacking only in the most advanced computer chip manufacturing ( spending heavily to correct that)

The phase I was expecting to occur is happening now, I was expecting it to occur closer to 2028.

It is the economic realignment of the world.

As the US tries to bring manufacturing back to the US, US brands become uncompetitive on the world market, losing market share, and the extra profits from it. The US brands are replaced by Asian brands primarily ( mostly Chinese world wide) but local brands using Chinese capital equipment also grow and develop.

As trade with the US declines so does the " value" of the USD. The relative living standards in the US drop, making the shirts turns out not to be the road to riches Trump thought).

By 2035 the Chinese economy already larger than the US economy in GDP ppp terms is larger than the US economy in GDP nominal term as well ( ie USD terms).

For those that think that is impossible.

Germany last year surpassed the Japanese economy in USD terms. ( I doubt it will stay that way for long).

The above of course assumes no world war

The US is a major market for iPhones, while Apple accounted for more than half of its smartphones sales last year, according to Counterpoint Research.

It says as much as 80% of Apple's iPhones intended for US sale are made in China, with the remaining 20% made in India.

Along with fellow smartphone giants such as Samsung, Apple has been trying to diversify its supply chains to avoid over-reliance on China in recent years.

India and Vietnam emerged as frontrunners for additional manufacturing hubs.

As tariffs took effect, Apple reportedly looked to speed up and increase its production of India-produced devices in recent days.
^ diversification's long run

It'll be a reintensification of hate for immigrants. That hate can be used to no end.
The fact that people are not only defending but cheering on sending innocent people to a foreign prison labor camp where they torture people just shows me how ****ed these people are.

I have said it before.... when one reads enough history one tends to gain the ability to view current events through the lens of how future people will see it and whether these actions will be celebrated or denounced.

Your take on this is spot on, and light years ahead of anyone in the White House.

How is it that we can all see the train barreling down the tracks toward America and the geniuses in Trump's bubble can't?
