Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from new tariffs

This is well and good, but if it's not apparent that the clowns are running the government, then your priorities could use some reshuffling.

Tariffs on...wax off. Every day. That's the point. And the problem.

You focus on the politics. I'll prioritize my account balance.

And my hunch is I'm going to be REAL happy this week.

The public nature of conducting it is also problematic. The Chinese are beginning to see it as a matter of national honour

This started out as a trade war, but it has become a war. It's the start of another Cold War. It's unmistakable. Even if Trump thinks better of it and decides he doesn't need China to kowtow after all, there's no calling these economic missiles back home. China now knows the US is an existential threat to its future and that the US policy of wary cooperation is now outright containment and, ultimately, dominance by the US. From China's perspective, this must be answered, and China must not give in.

I swear I've noticed less vigorous defense of Trump in the past couple of weeks. It may be because a few people were doing most of it and finally gave up. Not sure.

Some of them watched as Nero fiddled and burned their 401k's without even a semblance of a workable plan.

I find your first few sentences shockingly rational.

Too bad you can't carry that over in the rest of your post/posts.
I don't care to enter into a discussion with someone who feels personal insults add to the discourse....it's been a slice

The "they can't live without us" club is going to have a hard time defending this most recent retreat.

Turns out America needs Chinese stuff.

I know this is gonna sound unpatriotic, but there are times when a country needs a good ass-kicking, and this is one of those times. We need one. For our own good, as well as everyone else's. Viet Nam was one of those moments. Kept us out of idiot wars for at least a good 20 years before the Cable TV sport-spectacle that became known as Gulf War 1 emboldened us again.

I'm just not sure what's going to be left of this place when the Donny Dipshit era is over.

China has been planning to undermine the US's role as the world's dominant power for at least the past decade and their ambitions for world dominance only accelerated under Xi.

The idea the past few years that somehow a crippled Russia is the greatest threat to the modern world shows how we've taken our eye of the ball of the true menace to world wide prosperity and freedom in the form of an evil snake who's tentacles are starting to reach every corner of the globe from Africa to central America and beyond.

And after a well thought out rational post you go here.

You're basically asking for our country to lose because you don't like the current leadership. About as un American and unpatriotic as you can get. Frankly I find the post disgusting.

Do you think Trump's chaotic leadership that is chasing countries away from our leadership is helping?

Actually, Trump himself has pretty much made this argument.

That would be America currently. The country driving us toward a global recession.

Even on its worst day China doesn't do that shit.
The more erratic the US the better it is for China.

If we survive this it is going to take at least a generation to repair all of this damage.

Sadly I don't think that this can be repaired.

I would say a country who is attempting to spread their ambitous goal of Beijing’s dominance where an iron fisted, autocratic rule with state surveillance, censorship and political repression is magnitudes worse wouldn't you?

Isn't that happening under the Trump administration right now?

How is the US any better?

No. America is a much greater threat to the world right now.

For example China has never threatened Canada's sovereignty or our borders.

China has never threatened Danish territory.

The United States and the financialized global economic systems we created basically encouraged Chinese growth. We encouraged China to become an industrial power. We invested trillions of dollars in China not only as a global producer but also as a place for financial institutions to invest their money. China became a world power because we exported our economic system and tools to them so that they could become one. They are a competitor. Competition is inevitable. But there can and should be room for cooperation between two large powers.

Right now, in 2025, the rest of the world regards the United States, not China, as the most dangerous threat to their well-being.

That doesn't line up with Fox "News" and their narrative. We don't want their chips because it's a matter of national security...

The phones and computers that are assembled in China don't really contain a lot of "their chips." The chips are mostly fabbed and packaged in Taiwan and Korea, then shipped to China for assembly into finished products.

I'm not an elitist snob billionaire. I was born in a trailer park and had stretches on welfare growing up. I fully understand what it means to be food hungry poor. Do you?

But I knew back then I was going to do whatever I had to to get out and I'm never going back. You all can continue to focus and fight over politics. I'll just keep making more money and make fun of the clowns who don't have their life priorities in order.

You focus on the politics. I'll prioritize my account balance.

The reason the economy is bouncing all over the place right now is because of politics.

I hope your focus and priorities with your portfolio don’t overlook such a simplistic understanding, or you might find yourself back in the at trailer park lifestyle if the cockiness displayed in those choices reflect the cockiness and foolishness of these posts 🤷‍♀️

Than the current US?

I suppose that depends on what level of privilege one has in the US currently and is likely to change as conditions in the US continue to deteriorate

A solid portion of the Chinese population live lifestyles equal to - if not above - many here in the US. And the GINI coefficient for income and wealth distribution in China have been coming down to levels of less disparity whereas the numbers in the US have been going in the opposite direction.

You focus on the politics.
I did. The clowns are running the show. Trump is masturbating.

Leaders don't change their minds daily. Clowns do.

I'll prioritize my account balance.
I do as well. Your prioritization of clowns running the government needs adjustment. Especially if you prioritize your account balance.

And my hunch is I'm going to be REAL happy this week.
My hunch is that by next week, construction companies will be given an exception to using illegal labor.

The community here is going to be happy next month. Jacobs' festival grounds will open to country acts at the Drifters Festival.

That's four weeks from today and the property is still being built.

Most of those workers don't speak English. I know because I talked to them. Surely many are illegal. The owner is a Republican. Billionaire. Great guy, actually. He needs the construction company which needs the illegals. Trump will change his mind on construction crews by next week.

I hope your plans works out, whatever they may be. My whole community's plans are working out, thanks to a visionary Republican billionaire, who needs illegals.

Republicans need illegals. The stock market depends on them, as do private companies like Jacobs Entertainment.

lol

My porfolio is spread across the entire spectrum of risk. Sorry but the entire world economy would need to collapse for me to be back in the trailer park. Actually even then it wouldn't happen. The beauty of having no debt and a home sitting on natural resource rich land. Something city people would have no idea about.

And my arrogance is a direct response to the over the top stupidity and anti America sentiment that permeates this cesspool of a forum. I can't count how many liberal posts I've seen here the past month or so actively hoping for our economy and country to fail because they don't like the person in charge.

No doubt, which was why this tariff fiasco to me sounded like nothing that was properly thought out. There's certainly a debate to be had on industrial strategy and luring some manufacturing back, but Donnie Boy didn't make that case with any real plan. He just did stupid things and assumed everyone would cave. Now he's stuck with a bond market rout, stock market losses, and having to backtrack on the very products that would add some bite to the tariffs on China.
For those who wondered how it was possible he bankrupted most of his businesses, this is some good insight on how.

Exactly. Prima Facie evidence!

Watch - Autos/Auto-parts will be next.

I still maintain China would allude to or threaten to disrupt Taiwan, as a cudgel to hold over Trump.

Trump had no choice but to fold. We always knew that.

The fact that Trump exempt Chinese shipments that were enroute, also shows his intent.
