Trump-Backed Candidate Wins Ohio Special Election

Fortunately, the Democrats have a platform, consisting of issues like health care; wages; defending Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid from the GOP promise to cut; protecting the environment and opposition to job-killing tariffs.

Who's talking about these issues? And are they being drowned out by the daily petty stupidities?

True, we'll see if they can manage it. They should give most of the anti-Trump stuff a rest, not attack him on some personal level or talk about how embarrassing he is. But go after policy, they can still talk about that in regards to Trump. His unilateral hand he's been given by Congress to alter international agreements, his trade war and how it's hurting America, and their plans to help prevent this further and implement intelligent policy and program aimed at helping America instead.

If they can be smart about it, they can make some big gains.

So when you claim that he has hurt this country how about posting the data to support it. You like most of the left can make all the claims in the world but unless you have data and facts to back up your claims that rhetoric continues to ring hollow. The American people are feeling the benefits of the Trump actions in terms of more people working, almost 4 million, more spendable income due to tax cuts, more full time employment, and higher wages. Those trump the liberal rhetoric

Not a good take for any aspiring Republican strategist to have.

And dems who still point out with their whataboutism that Hillary received about 3M more votes than Trump in 2016, will take the loss in Ohio 12 as a win.

So what policies has Trump implemented that has reduced wages, cut SS and Medicare, and overcome state and local laws regarding the environment? You seem to believe that Republicans want to starve kids, kill seniors, pollute the air then garner votes to remain in power. The problem you face is the left is all rhetoric and no positive actions always promoting a hand out instead of a hand up. Big govt. liberals like you are becoming dinosaurs.

Well, I contend that the Russian investigation into whether our president is compromised by Putin is a "petty stupidity." It's a very important matter. Next, Democrats on the campaign trail are speaking about these issues. Anyone spending their viewing hours in front of Fox would never know that, I admit.

The Republican should have won this seat with at least a 10 point lead.

If this trends holds true nationwide, perhaps a "blue wave" is indeed inevitable.

I bet a lot of other Republicans are concerned about that.

Too early to make that call though.

Another republican arrested today. That's gonna leave a mark.

Yep, good old Crooked Hillary and part of the most corrupt Administration in U.S. History and that is saying a lot. Suggest you pay attention to actual results instead of buying her rhetoric and that of the left

Seems the left is used to dealing with robots like those in Chicago, LA, SF and other major cities totally ignoring mainstream America never understanding that true results trump rhetoric

And if you spent less time reading the radical leftwing press and pay more attention to the actual results being generated you wouldn't be as supportive as you are to the rhetoric. Results matter, not your opinions nor those of the radical left. You can tell the people that Republicans want to starve kids, kill seniors, and pollute the air but then have to point to the actual results that generate those results. you spend way too much time believing what you are told and never research to verify.

LOL!

Mainstream America can't stand Comrade Trump.

You really should change your TV channel every once in a while.

Rather interesting that the most corrupt Administration in history, Obama's, is being ignored to focus on a few Republicans getting into trouble. A totally politicized IRS, State Department, and FBI makes all these so called Republican crimes look like child's play and the American people are seeing that.

Trump's tariffs are hurting jobs. Trump's tax-cuts, coupled with his spending increases, increases deficits -- which makes the government borrow more -- which increases inflation -- which hurts real wage growth.

Just like Trump, who attacks others in the areas he is weakest (e.g. corruption) you attack me as being a dinosaur when it is your thinking that's the dinosaur. The idea that society runs best under Laissez-faire capitalism died over a century ago.

We're losing jobs because of his Trade War and already had to bail out Big Farms to the tune of 12 billion, deficit is increasing, we're losing international influence, earning power is still relatively flat even in this "boom" economy, his administration is mired in controversy, his tweets are pure embarassment, etc. He just better hope that his hotheaded policies don't end up crashing the economy, because it's about the last thing he has to stand on.

Trump is great if you're a super rich CEO. Other than that, it's bluster and propaganda.

Who do you think the 4 million new taxpayers and 1 million more full time employees coming from the part time employment roles are going to vote for? You buy rhetoric and ignore results. Mainstream America is flyover country and currently are working not spending 24/7 in a debate forum listening to the lies of the left

then those negatives should show up in results, have they?? All opinions on your part because that is what you want to believe. Until you have results all you have is typical leftwing rhetoric that doesn't coincide with what the people are seeing in their bank accounts. Words bother you a lot, results are ignored

Oh, that must explain why a +11 GOP seat is still too close to call.

Really? So where doe BLS.gov show that? Any idea how much of the current deficit is due to the 19.9 trillion dollar debt Trump inherited? Stunning ignorance of data showing why you have zero credibility

The results is the expanding deficit, our strained relations with our allies, companies laying off people because of the trade war, and we will see more such as the cost of goods going up while wages are essentially flat against inflation and earning power.

Maybe you should get a job then. LOL!

So expanding deficits none of which have anything to do with the debt service on the 19.9 trillion dollar debt Trump inherited? Now of course deficits and debt are a problem but not the 4 straight years of Obama trillion dollar deficits or the 9.3 trillion total debt? Where is the data to support your rhetoric? The American electorate is going to vote their pocketbooks and the 24/7 anti Trump rhetoric is running its course and doesn't coincide with what the people see in their bank accounts.

It's even worst (for them) than that. The former GOP Congressman won in 2016 by more than 35 points -- and Republicans pulled out all the stops to help Balderson. Trump and Vice President Pence each made trips. And Republican and outside groups pumped 40 million into the race, hugely outspending their Democratic counterparts. They won't be able to repeat that in November.

The fact that the race isn't yet decided, waiting for counting of absentee and provisional ballots, means that there is a BlueNami -- not a Blue Wave coming. This is supposed to be a non-competitive district. There are far more competitive districts where the Republicans must be quaking in their Gucci loafers.

Um...didn't Trump win this district by double digits?

Yeah, the Dems doubled their turn out from 2016 and the Republicans -20+% turn out and they still lost.

Don't expect the same turn out numbers to hold up. It was the Dems best possible scenario and they lost. Republicans hold this seat easily in November.
