Only Israel and Denmark have a higher per capita testing rate than the United States.

Which also ties directly back to testing. Trump isn’t suggesting that cases don’t objectively exist if you don’t test. He is suggesting that the numbers are not necessarily indicative of prevalence. A higher rate of per capita testing means that we’re more likely to find a case, and possibly attribute a death to a case, than a country which isn’t looking as thoroughly - which is everyone except Israel and Denmark.

Right, and it's because we've never gotten through the first wave. In many countries the virus is controlled, and there's no need in September for mass testing. So, yeah, we're still testing at very high rates because we have a lot of cases, and then contact tracing, etc.

3) The national response was inept, fractured, and incoherent, and an objective failure.

The most telling thing to me about Trump's response are his indoor rallies, without masks, and without even making an attempt to social distance. If Trump decided to spread it to as many people as possible, that first rally where they HOPED they'd fill a 20,000 person indoor arena to capacity, and have another nearly million people all on the same grounds, without masks required, is the most effective thing he could have done....to infect, then kill off as many as possible, both those attending the rally PLUS a bunch of innocents not stupid enough to attend.

There's no possible way to square that rally with a President who gives a flying **** about the pandemic, or has made a coherent response to it. It was deeply irresponsible, contradicted nearly every word of his own CDC's guidelines, and if we all followed Trump's "leadership" and encouraged mass indoor gatherings nationwide, for hours, without masks or any social distancing, we'd see a truly staggering death toll.

It's only because we as a country IGNORE the "leadership" of the President and his handlers and campaign staff that we're only seeing about 800 deaths per day, as we head into the flu season...
