No. The objective was no nukes for Iran. Period.
Obama failed in this objective. The agreement lasted for ten years and then all bets are off.

In other words, he was against going after Bin Laden when Obama's judgement was proven correct.
To put it another way, and in a way to reflect more contemporary commentary over the past few years-- Biden didn't trust American intelligence services.

I don't think so. His messages to the world are not conducive to retarding aggressive behaviour. He has made only one semi-tough comment about China and little about much else. His familys involvement in business dealings in China are another factor to consider. The image of Ol Sleepy dealing with China looks like this.

Firstly he's still not doing anything. Just suggesting an attack between putts and tweets is hardly 'work'.

If you want to know "the larger question" about Iran the answer is easy enough to find on google. It's not new or mysterious. It's been in the news for the past several years: Iran has a civilian nuclear program and has sought the capacity to weaponize it. after Trump tore up the agreement to stop this, Iran said it would start enriching uranium again. Not ideal, but in America's case self inflicted.

And now he wants to bomb the country for what? Not sticking to the terms of a deal he broke in a willful act of sabotage? To start a conflict to deflect from his failures at home? To start a war to hold on to power? To sabotage the incoming administration's efforts to revive a deal? To hand the incoming administration a mess? To lash out at someone, anyone because he's a big baby who can't stand to lose? Or all of the above...

I think that Israel was involved as well. The timing of the President's request for military options for attacking Iran's nuclear facilities would appear to neatly coincide with an Israeli operation. In August a Mossad hit squad assassinated an Al Qaeda commander, Abu Mohammed al Masri, in Iran. Such an operation can take years of preparation. And it would come at the cost of lost of resources and intelligence assets. Such a complex and costly operation would have had to come at the request of US intelligence services. Former Mossad and European intelligence officials say that Israel traditionally seeks compensation for such dangerous and complex operations. Perhaps the elimination of Iranian nuclear assets?
