Trump announces that Space Command is moving from Colorado to Alabama

You are literally defending Trump's retaliation tour against people and states that did not support his re-election. You think this is appropriate behavior of the chief executive. He doesn't have to be the president of all the US, only the parts that he likes. SMH
MAGA is so full of self-righteousness they think they’re justified hurting American citizens for their political views.

Trump could also be doing this in response of Colorado refusing to release Tina Peters from prison.

When you say they are "no worse" than Biden's loan forgiveness, you are defending Trump's behavior. And everyone here knows it.

Nonsense, since both used their executive power to do as they pleased.

By moving the space command to Alabama? LOL! Who even really cares about that?

You, for one, it seems. 😀

And no, not by simply this one asshole move. By making sure no more than a few days ever go by without pulling an asshole move.

Poor Taco is going to stroke out keeping up this pace and he STILL won't have elicited enough of a reaction to get people to retaliate. I guess Chicago is his next attempt, doomed to fail. Can't wait until he turns on red cities that badly need boots on the ground to see what happens then. 😂 With posters here willingly humiliating themselves by saying that really, they need it.

I had no idea the space force actually was a thing. I thought it was sci-fi comedy. I wonder if DOGE is aware of the money being spent on such a wacky idea. Mind you, since Trump is the one who thought of it, wackadoodles on the right will be ok with the idea regardless of the expenditure.

U.S. military operations in space will soon be led from Huntsville, Alabama. President Donald Trump announced he is moving U.S. Space Command headquarters out of Colorado Springs, Colorado, citing the state's use of mail-in voting as a "big factor" in the decision.

"The problem I had with Colorado, one of the big problems, they do mail-in voting," Trump said. "When a state is for mail-in voting, that means they want dishonest elections ... so that played a big factor also.”

Trump also touted his support in conservative Alabama and slammed Colorado's Democratic governor as he announced the relocation, the latest move in a years-long partisan tussle over the military's space program.

Trump is obsessed with this dumb notion that mail-in voting leads to massive fraud. There is some evidence of it occurring, but the instances are so rare that they become statistically insignificant and far too infrequent to materially affect election results. Historically no US election has been won or lost through fraud. As always Trump is talking out of his arse, and the gullible MAGAs bought the bridge.

President Trump has in the past supported mail in voting. Now he wants to get rid of it. If voting by mail is so corrupt, how can we be sure the 2024 election was not rigged in his favor?

"The Trump campaign on Tuesday announced a new program aimed at promoting absentee, mail-in and early in-person voting – practices that former President Donald Trump has disparaged for years while promoting false claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

The new effort, dubbed “Swamp The Vote USA,” comes as Republican officials ramp up calls for their voter base to embrace early voting and vote by mail options ahead of November’s election. The new initiative is part of “Trump Force 47,” which is sponsored by the Republican National Committee and is focused on turning out voters in battleground states.
I made the same point as your opening sentence so many times I lost count. Trump was convincing anyone who would listen that the election was fraudulent, every damn day. Not a whisper of rigging from him once he won. Strange that.

Incorrect. Huntsville was the location chosen by the Air Force selection process and announced as the location of the headquarters in 2021. That is the logical place for it.
No. Colorado was and is the logical place for it.

He literally said hes doing this to punish Colorado and maga is on here telling us how much sense it makes to move it to Alabama.

It's quite a bit different, and surprised you'd try to make that comparison.
Why would you be surprised? Their entire personalities are based on "but Dems". Trump could be raping their wives and they'll call you an asshole for not caring about Paula Jones but making a big deal out of this.

Trump announced this move, and was pretty clear it was a retaliatory move due to Colorado using mail in ballots. He's declaring war on blue states plain and simple. Colorado Springs (heavily republican) is the home of the Air Force Academy and an Air Force Base and was logically chosen by Biden to be the home of Space Command. Alabama however is a red state, and will do whatever the king requests.
The air force chose Huntsville after an extensive evaluation process, so it would seem to be the 'logical' choice. While Colorado does have some space facilities (the Academy is a non-issue) - so does Huntsville, including several facilities used by NASA and the space command. Biden made it political.

Certainly, there probably is some amount of middle finger to the Biden administration over this, but it's not without any merit, and arguably following the original evaluation decision.

The saga stretches back to 2021, when the Air Force identified Army Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville as the preferred location for the new U.S. Space Command. The city was picked after site visits to six states that compared factors such as infrastructure capacity, community support and costs to the Defense Department.

Then-President Joe Biden in 2023 announced Space Command would be permanently located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which had been serving as its temporary headquarters. Biden’s Democratic administration said that keeping the command in Colorado Springs would avoid a disruption in readiness.

The HQ is already set up!

Huntsville Alabama has the highest concentration of post graduate degrees per capita in the country, and was rated the best city to live in for several years in a row before being edged to the #2 spot.

It also has the largest concentration of DOD associated engineers in the country, and would co-locate Space Command with NASA.

Trump babbling on about mail in ballots made it clear why he's doing it - the personal is political for him, and so he makes decisions stupidly. But it is a good location for it.

Alabama is an excellent position for today's distraction from our POTUS covering for child molesters.

He is just saying that he is doing the spoils system of government.

Cool.

If true, that awesome. But has nothing whatsoever to do with the three topic.

According to ???
Again, how is this relevant to the thread topic?

According to? My guess would be it ranks third behind the DC area and California. But again, so what?

, and would co-locate Space Command with NASA.
NASA has a large number of facilities around the country. It's not just in one place.

Clealry.

But it is a good location for it.
It is currently in a good location, too.

I think the key factors are that they have several facilities used by space command, including the rocket facilities. And again, worth noting, that after a competitive process it was the site selected by the Air Force as it was transitioning - Biden was the one who overrode their choice.

You would be making a valid appointment IF the evaluation and decision had not been made by Trump's appointed Secretary of the Air Force, immediately after Trump's loss in 2020 AND there was reason to trust that decision. But now the headquarters has been in Colorado for 4 years, and Trump blatantly declared it was being moved because Colorado uses mail in ballots. Too much stench around this "decision" to give it any positive reaction.

US News and World Report.

Well, it so happens that having a highly educated technically-oriented local work force is pretty valuable for things like "Space Command HQ".

However, if you will bother to look at the post being responded to, that might clue you in to the general relevance of the points made, there.

You might be surprised, and should perhaps quickly Google up what a "Redstone Arsenal" is.

I was a civilian Army employee for years. Huntsville is - at least was as of 2020 - the largest concentration of Army civilians outside of DC, except whereas the DC crowd was administrator-heavy, Huntsville was mostly engineering focused.

NASA has a large number of facilities around the country. It's not just in one place.

Sure, and the same will be true of Space Command. Having HQs co-located is still a benefit.

Clealry.

It is currently in a good location, too.

There are definitely good arguments for Colorado.

Well the thing is that Alabama isn't SO much better than Colorado in terms of space and aerospace industry for the move to really make sense. In fact, Colorado has the second largest aerospace economy. The Space Command infrastructure was already building out under Biden, so Trump is looking to scrap all of that just to make a political move because he's mad at Colorado.
