Trump and the gop are losing support in the shut-down battle for one simple reason, they control all of government.

That's it in a nutshell, they control the government. The president golfs, the gop house members sit and home and yet somehow this shutdown is the fault of the Democrats. What the gop is doing is once again showing America they do not know how to govern, they only know how to rule. It's our way or no way and so the government is shut down because the gop refuses to compromise.

Sad.

Those who understand the truth aren't being fooled.

There are 3 democrats now voting to end the filibuster.

It's likely others are to follow.

Schumer's shutdown.

Indeed, Trump goes to quite a bit of effort to show that he alone rules the country. Kind of hard to pass the buck now.

Except the Republicans have voted to fund the government at current levels to keep it open. The dems have voted against that, which is why the government is closed. That there are people who dont understand that is just evidence of how people are susceptible to the lies of dems and their propaganda arm in the media.

The GOP has shown zero good faith to expect it (later healthcare negotiations). So there are consequences for such a heavy hand with a majority (voting in the BBB). The minority has to use what leverage and negotiations it has.

The Dems are doing it on behalf of everyone but esp. older, disabled, and families, for healthcare and Medicare. And the right is trying to distract from that by lying the left wants healthcare for illegal immigrants.

I think more and more people are catching on to TACO's BS.

A clear CR is ready to go. The democrats won't vote for it. The Senate needs 60 votes to reopen the Government.
All the republican voted for it but Paul. Well two democrats and one independent voted for the CR.
Five votes and five times the democrats kept the federal government CLOSED!

Republicans need 8 Democratic votes to reopen government, with Republican Sen Rand Paul opposing GOP bill

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., needs at least eight Senate Democratic caucus members to join Republicans to reopen the government, given that Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has consistently voted against the GOP’s bill.
So far, a trio of Democratic caucus members, Sens. John Fetterman, D-Pa., Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., and Angus King, I-Maine, have crossed the aisle to reopen the government.

Schumer's shutdown.

The Republicans don't need a single Dem vote. They can end the filibuster without a single Dem.

Majority Leader Thune chose to keep the filibuster.

It's the only means the minority has to oppose the majority in the senate.

Dear Readers,

The government is not shutdown.

75% of the government is still up and running. Only about 25% of employees are furloughed.

We don’t have government shutdowns in this country, we have government slowdowns.

Correct. He chose to shut down the government rather than pass the budget.

So democrats shut down the government. Thanks for the honesty. Now tell you firends who havent figured this out yet.

This isnt a budget they are trying to pass here. Its a 6 week CR to fund the government at current levels while the budget is being worked on.

Learn how to govern and stop trying to rule.

Cool. They chose to shutdown the government rather than pass a CR.

No...the GOP did. Only they had the power to do so. They could have voted not to shut it down...right? And done so without any input from the Democrats. Could the Dems have voted to shut it down? No. ;)

Do you understand that now? Please confirm. So again...the GOP presented the Dems with the opportunity to negotiate, which they are for the reasons I wrote and you didnt address. The GOP has the power to end the shut down thru negotiation. (y)

If you want my candid opinion, yes, it's a political stunt by the Democrats, but in this case, I support it because the Republicans shoved a terrible budget bill down their throats over the summer. The Democrats are at least trying to make people more aware of what the consequences of that bill are, but I honestly don't know to what extent their message will resonate because they are so utterly inept when it comes to communication.

So you're saying Trump and the GOP are incapable of making a bill that 60 Senators will vote for?

A lot of the problem is that the dems have muddled their message. Theyve gone from Trump shut down the government to no wait, we are fighting for X but Trump shut down the government, and I guess we are ok with that...

The republicans did vote to fund the government. The House republicans passed a bill to fund the government and so did senate republicans. It is democrats in both houses that voted against doing so. How do you not know this? Its like some of you libs enjoy being willfully ignorant.

What kind of a world do we live in?

Our Republican President orders the Texas National Guard to Illinois to quell the unrest the President's policies caused.

The forum's Republicans will say nothing.

ABC reports, "Members of the Texas National Guard have arrived in Illinois, according to sources familiar with their whereabouts and video taken of them at an Army Reserve training facility in a Chicago suburb.

This same Republican President is now saying that furloughed federal workers are not entitled to back pay.

ABC reports, "The Trump White House argues that furloughed federal workers are not entitled to back pay after the government shutdown lifts, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told NBC News."

What an asshole!

The Schumer shutdown is holding the government hostage. The clean CR that extends Bidens priorities for 7 weeks is at the senate. The vote is 55 45 currently. Schumer will have the opportunity to shut down government again for the holidays after appropriation bills are considered where compromises can happen sans hostage taking.

I think Ralph Nader (yes, that Ralph Nader) made a comment I agree with, which is that the Democratic leadership is used to outsourcing their messaging to political consultants. I've made a similar observation. They are really, really bad at using modern media to connect directly with voters. They've had this problem for a while. But their problem isn't messaging only. They take big money from big donors (actually out-raising the GOP in some cycles) in exchange for making sure that Bernie and AOC can't become too influential within the party. Can't have people cutting off funding for Israel's massacres, demanding more radical healthcare reform, or ending Congress' time-honored tradition of trading stocks (with inside info).
