Trump’s “Christian” supporters do not follow a central message of Jesus

They’ll know we are Christians by our love…..:)

I guess you're part of the world then...arn't you? Yet you claim we Chrsitians are not to be part of the world. What now?

Jesus instructed his followers to pay their taxes by providing the example at Mark 12:14-17. To be no part of the world refers to not getting involved with worldly politics--not voting people into political office. Since I don't vote, I am obeying my Exemplar; therefore, in that sense, I am no part of the world.

Concerning voting, Jesus never commanded us not to vote. Nor did he command us to not be part of politics. And, when you pay your taxes you are operating in the world system. When you go to work you are in the world system. When you obey or break the laws, you are in the world system. When you sit on juries you are part of the world system.

And, in the verses you gave, there is no command for the disciples to not be part of the world. He declared that they are not of the world. (John 17:16) "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world." And (John 18:36), "My kingdom is not of this world...."

Christians are to not love the world. (1 John 2:15) But we are in the world and must function in the world system. And if a Christian happens to live in a country where voting is part of the political process, to refuse to vote means you refusing to use your Christian influence as to how people will live. What a shame.

We do not seek to bring God's kingdom through worldly means. But we should seek to affect the country where we live by our Christian influence.

Voting is a privilage, not a law. So do as you wish. But the Christian should vote, and if he wants to, be part of the political system.

If we are true footstep followers of Jesus Christ, we follow his lead...did he vote? Did he get himself involved with the politics of his day or did he flee to the mountains when they tried to make him do so? Being a Christian is not only about his commandments, it's about the things he did not do, as well...

Theoretically I would, as a Christian, lean to this point of view, ….but even in saying this I actually might believe more to view voting as a ‘necessary evil’. The danger for Christians that become zealous about politics is the sin of serving 2 masters. We might like to believe that we vote our conscience but is more widely and accepted that we vote our pocketbooks……”the love of money is the root of all evil”…which is a warning for confessing Christians.

In politics people are willing to change the master that they serve….the most noticeable being when Lyndon Johnson passed the Civil Rights bill….the ‘solid South’….the stanchion of racism and bigotry began to rapidly abandon the Democrats in favor of the Republicans. It remains that way to this day and is fueled by their hatred for immigrants and minorities….the downtrodden.

If there are any that vote their conscience and least likely to serve 2 masters perhaps it is the independent voters….they value their freedom of choice and can help to provide balance. There is a lesson in the fourth Beatitude….”Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” That is to hunger and thirst for wishing to do the right thing. It represents a metabolic process….the heat that is produced by eating demands cooling(thirst)…..when it is ‘filled’….then both hunger and thirst are sated with the result being harmony. This can be the role of independents to help to restore balance and harmony…..

This metabolic process is also apparent in the 23rd Psalm……

but even in saying this I actually might believe more to view voting as a ‘necessary evil’.
I choose to take to heart Psalm 146:3,4...

“Do not put your trust in princes nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation. His breath goes out, he returns to the ground; on that very day his thoughts perish.”

The danger for Christians that become zealous about politics is the sin of serving 2 masters. We might like to believe that we vote our conscience but is more widely and accepted that we vote our pocketbooks……”the love of money is the root of all evil”…which is a warning for confessing Christians.
Exactly...

If there are any that vote their conscience
I voted according to my conscience 49 years ago for God's gov. when I was baptized...

.”Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
I believe only Jehovah God and His Son Jesus Christ can fill that need...certainly not any man...

Yes, I know that you check many of the boxes for being a good Christian…..there are many boxes to check……one that is difficult for many is to check is if they can swallow their pride to receive the lesson from the Good Samaritan….one outside of their own religion….

Sorry, I'm not attempting to keep score...I'm just trying to follow in Jesus footsteps...

The very interesting thing to me is the genealogy in Matthew of Jesus. This precise genealogy is what we call tracing and establishing DNA. Matthew lists 3 generations of 14 each with Jesus being number 42……here is the interesting thing: Joseph is number 40…..there is no number 41 listed. Something is missing in the DNA chain…..is number 41 one that cannot be named ? Is this where divinity becomes part of the DNA of Jesus ? Just something to contemplate….

I revisit this because of the absence of comment and/or response. The principle of Jot and Tittle declares that every word and every detail of the Gospel is beyond reproach…..so we can never say that is a mistake or error. So once again….who or what is #41 ? Can the answer be found on the literal level of the Bible or is God challenging us to go to the spiritual level ? Waiting to hear from you….:)

Oh gee, was voting a prerogative in Jesus day? Imagine that. Did Jesus drive a car? So, we shouldn't drive a car? How stupid.

As the OP intimates, the Trump “Christian” cult is hypocrisy defined.

You're the one that said the Christian faith is all a myth. Not me. Do you now deny it? Yet you want to play the role of Bible expositor. Again, oxymoron.

Nope, the OP is NOT saying Christianity is a myth, the OP is firing a shot across the bow of many of today's Christians and saying they are phonies, liars and hypocrites.
And I will offer that many of today's Christians prefer Leviticus and the teachings of Paul over the teaching of Jesus, while also taking a massive dump all over The Ten Commandments.

then show us the way watsup, if you have answers: we have questions.

I think we know by his actions how Jesus felt about worldly politics...

Jesus was a vocal advocate for God's kingdom...“I must also declare the good news of the Kingdom of God to other cities, because for this I was sent"...he did not get involved in politics because he knew that God's kingdom, not human governments, would achieve God's purpose for the earth...

Jesus refused to accept control of human governments when Satan the Devil offered him “all the kingdoms of the world"...

Jesus did not take sides on political issues and at the same time, he showed that obedience to secular authority was limited...a person was not to give the State what was due to God, including devotion and worship..."Pay back Caesar’s things to Caesar, but God’s things to God"...

Jesus understood that God’s Kingdom would not operate through human governments but would replace them..."the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed.+ And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever"...

My unadulterated loyalty/support is for that kingdom...

Please see post #(3).

And why do you 'offer that'? The teachings of (Leviticus) are the Mosaic Law. And the teachings of Paul are not contrary to the teachings of Jesus. Nor are the teaching of Paul contrary to the 10 Commandments. You really don't know what you're talking about.

Well, any non-christian can also be wrong. And why would you trust one who believes the Bible is just a myth to explain to you what it says?
Because they are less likely to use it to rationalize atrocious beliefs and behavior.

Do we? You don't seem to. As I have said, Jesus never commanded us to not be in politics. Never.

The Kingdom of God doesn't mean the Christian in this world cannot be involved in it's politics.

I don't think you know what the 'Kingdom' of God is. Just my opinion.
