I'm assuming you all know of the move True Grit, and it recently being remade, so i'll keep this simple. My dad is a big movie watcher and he told me this, so I can't take credit for it, but anyway. In the original True Grit, you will notice that John Wayne wore his eye patch on his left eye. For those of you who did not know it, John Wayne was a very big Republican, and was one of the most highly criticized of his time, as it was almost absurd to believe in what he did, to the extent he did. However, when he watched the new one, he noticed that Jeff Bridges eye patched was switched to cover his right eye. In this day in age, 9/10 movie directors are big liberals, and of course, the directors of this movie, the Coen Brothers, are indeed just that.

I know this has no significant meaning, but I mean honestly, why else would you change the eye patch, ESPECIALLY when the remade version of the movie is almost identical in scene and characters obviously. In a heated political time like this, it would not surprise me if this was the reason.

Thoughts?

I think that they just left open the eye that each actor was the most comfortable using to judge distance. You wouldn't want them bumping into things during a take.

The eye = political wing scenario is ridiculous.

Jeff Bridges is right handed, therefore his shooting/eye is likely his right eye. Then answer me why else they might change it?

Honestly, I can't see this being a political statement at all.

If it's a political statement it's a bland one.

Maybe we're just being myopic.

lol

More than likely - he couldn't see as well out of his right as he does his left. In the later years that can make a huge difference in things.

Are you saying the right is just weaker than the left? ;)

Yeah, this isn't that big of a deal at all. Time would be much better linking the term "sinister" to "left" to liberals being backstabbers and the term "dexter" to "Dexter" to conservatives being heroic sociopaths.
