Trapped Drivers Pleaded with 911 Operators for Help

Wait, smashing up private citizens' vehicles is "dissent against the state"? Wow, who knew?

This thread has lumped all protestors together, and all of the crimes into terrorism. So yeah, why not.

The "Obama Way" isn't working. When people are looting, burning, beating and otherwise threatening law-abiding citizens, it's time to change the meme.

I was wondering how long before someone would blame this on Obama.

A court of law will decide if the 'fear' was valid or not, you can claim whatever you want. I'd opine if 'the ordinary citizen' can't tell the difference between hell raisers and those who mean him harm he shouldn't carry deadly force... a nice pepper spray, maybe a pink one at that.

In an age of cell phone videos- are there any showing what some truckers claim? Any road blocks or bonfires? How about looted trucks or people snatched from their vehicles and beaten?

People can claim anything under stress, especially if they think it will get the police to respond faster... a little proof would be nice... :peace

According to one court in Texas, at least, if someone comes up to your car and smashes a window in anger he can be killed in self defense. That's all the proof needed.

I was wondering how long before someone would blame this on Obama.

So you're saying that Obama has nothing to do with the decline in racial relations?

No, that's you. You confuse lawful dissent with terrorism and violence.

Terrorists and violent protestors are easy to distinguish from lawful protestors. They're violent.

I was wondering how long before someone would blame this on Obama.

Well when you side with TLM, and run around calling white people and the country racist to cover up the effects of your failed policies I'd say there is some blame to be had.

Straw manning up a victim card to play isn't helping your point much.

Lol...

If I tell you that I can't stand you... Can I then immediately follow that up by blaming you for having deteriorated the relations between us? I mean if I can't stand you, that clearly means you are the devisive person right?

That is the logic being put forth here.

A voice of reason.
It's easy to advocate escalating a bad situation into a catastrophic one when it's not you and/or your family in ground zero. Had some of those people opened fire on the rioters and the rioters returned fire, can you imagine how the next 'protest' would go down?

Maybe, maybe not.

All I can say is I'm trapped and you take any metal instrument to my window you are really risking your safety, I'm going to resist with whatever tools I have, and in my country that includes a handgun
The escalation already occurred, once windows are breaking you don't know how far the mob is going to go. Look up Reginald Denny, driving his dump truck minding his own business and he's permanently disabled to this day.

A mob of people using weapons to break windows is a deadly force threat. There are shootings where no one is killed, doesn't mean I'm not going to react to a shooter with compliance to "avoid escalation"

Taking property is terrorism! All hail the pursuit of stuff.

If you want my stuff you'll have to kill me for it, any attempt to take my stuff is therefore a deadly force threat against myself as a human being

I take it you're pleading ignorance of Obama's actions.

Taking property is terrorism! All hail the pursuit of stuff.

Making excuses of violent thugs just because they are left wing? How morally bankrupt can you get?

This sort of activity is not protected by the First Amendment and should not be tolerated.

That's what one gets for trying to drive by and rubberneck a riot

How come "destruction of property" charges arent under terrorism laws? Is it terrorism when teenagers smash a window?

If they're threatening to come through the window and drag someone out and attack them it is.

I was wondering how long before someone would blame this on Obama.

It generally doesn't take too long. Obama is black, the rioters are black, so there's the connection. Now, when Hillary becomes president, it seems doubtful that we'll have riots by old, white women. They'll have to find someone else to blame it on,

Reading that a few days later, I would have worded it differently. President Obama has made it clear that he supports BLM. A black man has been in the White House for eight years, and things are worse than ever.

Being "afraid" isn't the same thing as being in fear of an imminent threat to your life.

I'm all for carrying but lets not be completely unreasonable.

I'm not going to kill a man for jumping on the hood of my car and I'm sure as hell not going to kill a man for jumping on the hood of your car.

The fact that there are zero reports of motorists sustaining any kind of injury, or even having been at threat of injury, and there certainly would have been if they were reported, makes it pretty plain that while this was clearly a "scary" situation for some people it didn't even begin to rise to the level of a life or death situation for anyone.

If it happens to you, keep your CCW weapon where you can reach it and make sure you've got some decent podcasts downloaded to your phone to keep you occupied until traffic lets up.

I will. If I fear for my safety, I will take whatever measures are necessary to protect myself.

More likely though, I'd just drive myself out of the situation.

Even if it means running over people who block your exit?

No worries, Hillary has already pledged to keep the drive to divide us going. TLM!!!

So, people you don't approve of should not be allowed to defend themselves effectively. Got it.

So people who can't make an effective argument post what????

I am ALL for self defense but far too often the 'fear for my life' is bogus, like the man who shot through his door at a teen girl, the guy in Florida who killed a teen because the music was loud... :doh

Break my window and I fear for my life... run around my car screaming, jump on the hood (I have good insurance), wave signs and I'm pissed but not fearful. (maybe having met REAL threats repeatedly at a very young age has dulled my ability to recognize what never served Cherries can quickly recognize as 'a threat') ;)

Now I did ask where are all the cell phone videos of windows breaking, drivers being drug into the streets, trucks looted, set on fire, bloody drivers in ER rooms...

Get it??? :peace

You didn't address the issue you raised, the issue I commented on, which is whether or not ordinary citizens should be allowed to defend themselves with deadly force.

In the courts it is a "reasonable person" test. If a reasonable person would have thought his life in danger then he can respond accordingly. I'm not sure that that means waiting until one is actually physically attacked, but I doubt it. When rioters threaten people with rocks, bats, knives and guns a reasonable person would conclude it's time to go nuclear.
