Top Secret Stealth Helicopter Program Revealed in Osama Bin Laden Raid: Experts - ABC News

Before an elite team of U.S. Navy SEALs executed a daring raid that took down Osama bin Laden, the commandos were able to silently sneak up on their elusive target thanks to what aviation analysts said were top secret, never-before-seen stealth-modified helicopters.

In the course of the operation that cost the al Qaeda leader his life, one of the two Blackhawk helicopters that carried the SEALs into bin Laden's Pakistani compound grazed one of the compound's wall and was forced to make a hard landing. With the chopper inoperable, at the end of the mission the SEALs destroyed it with explosives.

I was wondering what allowed those Black Hawks to fly "under the radar," right beneath the noses of the Pakistanis. This is pretty badass.

Is the link broken? or the super secret government got to it!? haha

The Blackhawk isn't a good platform for a quieter helicopter. A ducted fan or NOTAR anti-torque system is inherently less loud than a tail rotor setup. Still, its kind of a niche application as it only works against guys without a real air defense system so saving a few bucks using existing systems makes sense.

Did the Iraqi people blow up the helicopter?

1) you meant Pakistanis
2) The SEALs apparently blew it up before they left.

Thats strange... since it's "top-secret". Is it a disposable helicopter? And you think they would be more careful about the remains

I think since the chopper was unfixable they would have rather just destroyed it so nothing remained. Don't want anyone else to get our secrets.

This is what happens when helicopters go down. The chopper was damaged and couldn't be retrieved, so they decided to leave it on the ground and destroy it so that the technology and other sensitive data would remain secret.

Yes. It is a disposable helicopter.

LOL eco you make it sound like it was a multimillion-dollar glorified flying tampon.

they leaked classified pics of them:

you also can recognize the pilots who fly them by their tattoo:

You're wrong, President Obama has refused to release the long form documentary proof these flying tampons exist.

Might upset the muslims.

I never heard of this helicopter, and I have grave doubts about it.

1) it was a secret stealth modification program so very few people would have heard about it
2) what part do you have grave doubts about?
