Tim Walz abandoned his soldiers when they deployed to Iraq

President Trump has not misrepresent his service.

Tim Walz was demoted upon retirement from CSM to Master Sergeant (E-9 to E-8) because he failed to fulfill his commitment.
How many people did Trump dodge when they asked for their pay? lol

Come on dude, this is a really bad choice of action. Attacking ones military service is just asking for a spanking. These are sounding more and more like ads for the Harris campaign. You all should and can do better!

What's Trump going to do for the America people? Sparing them from someone like Waltz isn't good enough.

He served 24 years, decided to run for Congress, and retired. Did he do so to avoid Iraq? Maybe he did. I can't find myself to care after serving 24 years.
He didn’t serve and that’s the point. He showed up for drills but when the time came to serve he bypassed the chain of command and fled.

I am not attacking per se.

I am just pointing out the fact that Tim Walz is misrepresenting his military service.

As someone who did spend a year in Iraq, I find that offensive.

Meh, if that is what you need to believe because of your MAGAness, have at it.

Tim Walz is a coward. He did the safe deployments to Italy and Norway, but when his unit was activated to go to Iraq, he suddenly “retired” when still having 2 years left on his commitment.

In early 2005, a warning order was issued to the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion, which included the position he was serving in, to prepare to be mobilized for active duty for a deployment to Iraq.

On May 16th, 2005 he quit, leaving the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion and its Soldiers hanging; without its senior Non-Commissioned Officer, as the battalion prepared for war. His excuse to other leaders was that he needed to retire in order to run for congress. Which is false, according to a Department of Defense Directive, he could have run and requested permission from the Secretary of Defense before entering active duty; as many reservists have. If he had retired normally and respectfully, you would think he would have ensured his retirement documents were correctly filled out and signed, and that he would have ensured he was reduced to Master Sergeant for dropping out of the academy. Instead he waited for the paperwork to catch up to him. His official retirement document states, SOLDIER NOT AVAILABLE FOR SIGNATURE.

The bottom line in all of this is gut wrenching and sad to explain. When the nation called, he quit. He failed to complete the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He failed to serve for two years following completion of the academy, which he dropped out of. He failed to serve two years after the conditional promotion to Command Sergeant Major. He failed to fulfill the full six years of the enlistment he signed on September 18th, 2001. He failed his country. He failed his state. He failed the Minnesota Army National Guard, the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion, and his fellow Soldiers. And he failed to lead by example. Shameful.
Ridiculous... You should be ashamed of yourself for disparaging anybody's military service. If you've served over twenty years in the military, you can retire anytime you damn well please. Try another one.

Exactly.

You know this is a sore point based on the attacks from our resident liberals.

Like they say, you know you are on target because the flak is the heaviest.

Please, tell us how he misrepresented his military service. In your own words.

Says the guy who didn’t even make it through boot camp. Lighten up Francis.

Says the guy who gleefully supports a man who didn’t even try to join.....

Who is on record blathering about how he “likes people who weren’t captured”

And yet somehow expects us to believe a guy who served twenty plus years “abandoned” his soldiers.

Oh no….an NCO retired after more than 2 decades of service to run for Congress.

I guess we should elect the draft dodger instead?

🙄

I don’t see how this is the “attack” MAGAs want it to be

Especially considering they already tried in 2022 and it didn’t work then.

From 2022;

GOP opponent who never served criticizes Gov. Tim Walz's exit from National Guard

Supporters say the governor was a great soldier who was entitled to leave when he chose.

Gov. Tim Walz's 24-year military career in the Minnesota National Guard is under attack by his GOP rival in the waning weeks of the governor's race.

*snip

Joseph Eustice, a 32-year veteran of the guard who led the same battalion as Walz, said the governor fulfilled his duty.
"He was a great soldier," Eustice said. "When he chose to leave, he had every right to leave."

Eustice said claims to the contrary are ill-informed and possibly sour grapes by a soldier who was passed over for the promotion to command sergeant major that went to Walz.

That man, Thomas Behrends, was among those standing with Jensen to criticize the governor. Jensen and Behrends, a longtime critic of the governor, argue that Walz bailed on his troops when the going was about to get tough.

*snip

Eustice, an Ortonville teacher who describes himself as nonpartisan, said he unequivocally supports the governor's version of events.

"I love him as a soldier; I don't care much for him as a politician," Eustice said of Walz.

Eustice said he recalled talking to Walz in 2005 when they were at Camp Ripley. He said Walz told him he was thinking about resigning the guard and running for Congress.

"The man did nothing wrong with when he chose to leave the service; he didn't break any rules," he said.

DFL Ramsey County Commissioner Trista MatasCastillo, another Guard veteran who served at the same time as Walz but didn't know him, called Jensen's attacks on the governor's service "disgusting."
