I understand what you were doing. My point is that it was a contrarian position that really had not context in this particular thread other than to say, "so what... lefties are still violent". Presentation is EVERYTHING.

And nowadays, everything's a fight. No one tries to reason or present their position anymore. It's just "you suck, you're evil, I hate you". Both sides do that.

Yeah you have a more than valid point there. Its one of the main reasons I stopped going to the damn protest, not to mention the imminent physical threat.

Actually, the leftist cops were the Durham City Police that were told to stand down and just watch them do this, and left the Sheriff and his office deal it it on their own. City Police still have jurisdiction to enforce the law on County property that is located WITHIN THE CITY.

Don't change the subject, just answer the question: Do you think the President and many on the right get the same benefit of the doubt when they are hounded by the media and leftists to genuflect and supplicate themselves for the misdeeds of others falsely viewed as their ideological soul mates?

The answer is "no", and the "damn problem" is that you are not the arbiter of what the "damn problem" is, and what you think the "damn problem" is is not the "damn problem". The "damn problem" is that you apparently think that no criticism of Antifa is legitimate unless and until you specifically denounce the "other" bad guys, which just makes you part of the "damn problem".

Some of them were probably citizens of the town. Some of them were supposed to have been Nazis. I wasn't there, so I don't know. But the fact that taking down a statue that has been standing for 90 years and is in the National Register of historic places for no reason other than that it suits the current mood of SOME extremists has been lost in the shuffle. And for some of these people to jump up and start screaming "Nazi!" hasn't made that any clearer.

It's also going to cost the city a bundle to take the statue down.

So how about this? How about we let the citizens of Charlottesville handle this and the rest of these people STFU?

As far as the statues go, removing them does nothing to history. History is still in tact, still in the books, still remembered. The statues, however, symbolize a positive memorial to the memory of what they represent, and what they represent is nothing to really celebrate or memorialize in a positive way. I see no reason for such a representation to be supported by the Federal Government, and since they are on the National Register, something managed by the Federal Government, the Federal Government is sanctioning them. I'd prefer to leave it up to the Feds to decide.

The problem with most extremist groups is that they are rarely FOR anything, but are usually AGAINST things. But your comments are completely inaccurate. Nazis of today are certainly for more liberty (pro-2A, pro-choice of association), certainly limited government as they want government to leave them alone to do what they want with no restrictions at all, and free markets. We are not talking about the Nazis of Germany. These are American Nazis, and like it or not, they have taken right wing positions to the extreme. I have a problem with police officers who don't enforce the law during these incidents, which is a subtle "approval" of their actions. Failure of police departments to shut this sort of **** down is exactly what bolsters them to continue behaving in this manner.
