This is NOT OK

Boy, you sure do get worked up about things don't you?

The biggest issue here is there's not much "story" to go on.
You provided a rather pathetic video with little more than ranting and raving.
Any chance you could provide something with quite a bit more substance? You know, facts? Details?

I really don't care what nine year olds dress in.
I already said the sexually suggestive dancing part is a valid topic that crosses many areas. Cheerleading. Dance. Music. Child Beauty Pageants.
I absolutely agree that children should not be performing in bars/nightclubs.

Parents can truly screw up their own children in a large variety of ways.
Adults can truly be rather pathetic themselves.

The video you posted is simply a "shock & awe" fearmongering piece of garbage media.

Find something more factual and detail oriented, and perhaps you'll have a better discussion.

I always found cheerleading and beauty pageants to be some of the creepiest **** that this society still, for whatever reason, deems appropriate. Sure, there are some pretty skillful cheer-leading teams out there, and one could argue that it's developed into a competetitve class of it's own, but the fact remains that we dress teenage and pre-tween girls in uniforms with super-short skirts and skimpy uniforms, and I can't help but think that this tradition, from the very beginning, was designed to attract the attention of creeps.

The childs mother is there with him at all interviews and performances.

And? Have a point? I'm sure many unfit parents are on scene. I gather you think this is fine?

"Parents" need to be locked up and this child placed with actual parents.

To hear anyone defend this is sickening.

Is it purely an American thing? I live in Belgium and I have never come across anything like that here.

You were the one that claimed that the child was alone at a bar unsupervised. I simply corrected you since the childs parents are supervising all of his performances.

Not sure where but that is so NOT the point here.

If it isn't the point, then why did you say that they let the kid hang out in bars unsupervised?

Christians teach children that if they don't get bathed in the blood of 2000 year old dead Jewish man, they will burn forever in eternal conscious torment.

I think people can certainly ethically cross boundaries in raising their kids, though perhaps no law is broken and the implementation of law might lead to authoritarian overreach and violation of human civil rights.

There is plenty so far that we tolerate with conduct of parents who are Conservative Christians for example, even though much of it is incredibly harmful to their children. So I find it ironic that this is a big issue for the Right.

I think there is much about some of the LGBTQ culture which is in its infancy and there are certainly some expressions that for me cross the boundaries. More properly parents shouldn't be seeking to impose an identity or mode expression, but seeking rather to encourage and guide your child on their unique journey of self discovery in the world. Should this episode require this much attention when we have so many giant issues in front of us, such as climate change, healthcare, infrastructure, wealth inequality.

That's really what all these "social issues" are, red herrings from the truly major issues which impact all our lives and which the GOP and Right Wing have no solutions for. Nope, the Red Pill it turns out is really just a nihilistic acceptance to do nothing to try to change the world from collective action, but to just accept the world as it is, no matter how ****ty it may become. No thanks!

Many, if not most, Democrats seek out any way no matter how extrapolated to spew out their hatred of over 70% of Americans - ie Christians. Just from what is on this forum by Democrats, Christians should vote straight Republican in every election for every office as if the lives of their children, family, fellow Christians and themselves depend on it.

The Democratic Party opposing pedophilia? Never going to happen.

That is very likely to be your prejudice influencing your opinion.

Nah, just usually the next step after collecting dollar bills off the stage from horny men.

I don't think there's a school anywhere in the United States where cheerleaders aren't a thing.

Do you sit at a bar and throw $ at them as they dress in drag and dance stripper style?

I dont understand how anyone defends this, has the world gone insane?

One can object to the way Jacob was allegedly treated as she put it and not support the law as described. Seems to be just a “here’s another reason to hate liberals” post from the Coulter Corner of the right.

I said i would not want the type of people who would patronize such a "show" around children unsupervised.

The patrons of the nar were not around him unsupervised, so that isn't a problem.

It's disgusting, normal people see this and the law is just common sense. If liberals want to act like this is OK, they deserve the contempt such exploitation and sexualization of children, will rightly earn them. It's plain child abuse.

Remember a time when kids were not even allowed in bars? How far we have fallen.

I've seen 11 year olds playing guitar in bars decades ago. This isn't a new thing, and many if not most states allow children to perform in bars as long as their parent or guardian is present.

Fundamentalist Christians are the problem. So organize your dying organization together, it is futile.

I don't go to high-school basketball games at all, nor do I even like sports.

I make no statement and express no opinion about the OP. Go bother someone who does.

You responded to my thread, you must have one and you made a poor attempt to try making the two, somehow equal. Feel free to find some other thread. Anyone attempting to defend or minimalize this, is one sick puppy.

Which people are defending it? The anchor talks about "leftists" but doesn't make any direct references to any specific political group or specific individuals. In fact, she doesn't even name the play.

So the entire "news" story is just a sensationalized callout because some idiot had horribly poor judgment in casting a play, and a lawmaker decided to respond. Truth be told, the hard limit on 18 years of age is fairly reasonable sounding to me, provided that it doesn't extend to innocuous things like a stage kiss, for example. There goes all the junior high school Romeo and Juliet productions.

But still, persons under eighteen should not be roped into simulating sexual acts in a performance. That's reasonable.
And I'm a lefty, how about that...
