The Swedish experiment of doing remarkably little about Covid-19

The facts don't care about naughty or nice. Again, only time will tell.

The facts are: Sweden has lost a huge number of people in care homes. No hiding that one, they failed their elderly.

Only time will see if their action was the correct one, and I believe it is. Sure, it's possible I'm wrong, but from what I have been reading about this in Science and Nature peer reviewed journals... Don't expect a vaccine. It's here to stay.

The first of several vaccines may be ready by May next year but even if that doesn't work - many of the treatments aiming to minimise the impact of the virus are showing good promise if a vaccine eludes us. Remdesivir disrupts the replication of the Ebola virus and helped stop the spread last time - that is being explored but more recent advances find that if you are male, blad and over 50 you are at 3 times the risk of the severe version of Coronavirus and this is also leading to pathways to minimise the impact of the virus.

Identifying what makes the virus dangerous rather than a mild flu-like bug will probably be what helps us live with this virus.

Even the scientist the Swedish government heeded now admits his advice was too deadly.
"Sweden's controversial decision not to impose a strict lockdown in response to the Covid-19 pandemic led to too many deaths, the man behind the policy, Anders Tegnell, has acknowledged."

so (assuming the issue I bolded in red to mean"bald") with my having a good shock of hair (and on the top of my head at that:mrgreen:), I guess my survival chances have increased by a third.

Meanwhile I'll increase them even more by staying the hell off beaches, out of cafes and restaurants, buses, trains, planes and generally (and overall) away from the type of morons one gets to see down here and everywhere else.

In the process also catering to my misanthropic needs.:2razz:

Well, it was nice knowing you, no shock of hair on MY head...

err no. Sweden's death rate is currently the 6th highest in the entire world if you exclude microstates.
Comparison of Sweden with some U.S. States and E.U. countries with strict lockdowns with regard to COVID-19 death, updated on June 7 by worldometer. All the governors on those U.S. states are Democrats.

Sweden with it’s relax approach to coronavirus has done better than the countries and states shown in the table with strict lockdowns. Its death rate per million citizens is lower except for Netherlands.

During the first two weeks a quarantine was in order to determine if the virus was genetically altered to be utilized as a biological weapon. A biological attack with a deadly virus that can spread very fast, can infect almost everyone been expose to it, causing a huge percentage of death that would threaten the survival of most of the world nations.

You kidding me? You've haven't included the dozens and dozens of countries with lockdown that have better death rates talk about cherry picking!

Sweden has the 6th highest death rate in the world.

Most of the fatalities, close to 50%, have taken place among the elderly, and among the immigrants population. The country's chief epidemiologist Anders Tegnell said that they should have done a better job of protecting the elderly living in nursing homes. Because of the lockdown the recession of the economy of E.U. will be more severe than in Sweden. He also said that “by maintaining the Swedish approach, relying on voluntary measures, works better over time because it’s easier to maintain. Locking people up at home won’t work in the longer term.” More than 60% of the population support the government approach to the coronavirus.

Prove it happened under the immigrant population, because all we know that it was much less prevalent under the younger population, and refugees are usually not senior citizens. But you must have evidence of course so please provide it.

And you think Sweden will be much better off than the rest of Europe. Sorry, but Sweden is dependent on other countries with economic downturns. Where do you think Sweden will sell it's products too when there is no market for it?

Also, your opinion poll?

According to the Novus poll published by Sweden’s state broadcaster SVT, only 45% of Swedes now have “fairly high or very high” faith in the strategy, compared with 63% in April.

Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

The economy of Sweden will be much like their neighbors.

Makes sense.

With the lock-down, so fewer people are getting natural vitamin D.

Governments have no authority to quarantine the healthy after have been determined this was not a biological attack. Designating businesses as essential/nonessential is arbitrary. Banning church services is despicable. The people went along with the measures because based on what was known, this was a reasonable action to be taken at the beginning. But after stablishing it was not a biological attack, the lockdowns should have been lifted for most of the people. There is no good reason to quarantine healthy people. Sweden healthcare system nor its economy had been hard hit. So far no correlation between fatalities and strict lockdown has been established.

I might respect the purpose of the lock-down if they didn't make every death they can, a Covid death.

They are lying though their teeth. No integrity on the claim of severity.

I think that by the end of the year the full extent of each country's death rate will be clear...until then I think it is obvious that the UK is over counting and that Germany is under counting...as for China, they are completely untrustworthy , their numbers are probably in the hundreds of thousands but we will never know.

With figures then, no doubt, showing the two to be on par, eh wot? :lamo

No gripe from me on that one.

Nothing is true until Beijing has denied it. Goes for Moscow as well.

I think millions, if Coronavirus gets into those huge internment camps they built to imprison the whole muslim population it will have run rife.

I saw a graph a few weeks ago that showed there was an unaccounted big spike in German deaths (not attributed to covid 19) ...so we shall see...don't count your chickens just yet .

It could be millions , I don't know. What I would say is that the current outbreak in Beijing may not be of the imported variety that the CCP is implying...the original outbreak may still be circulating.

China has never been trustworthy, and once they are, it will still be decades before they are seen as so. The USA has gone ijncreasingly downward in it's integrity. I really can't speak for other countries.

I do know this.

The lies are rampant regarding SARS-CoVid-2. It is over hyped in it's death rate, and the experts are silent on it's resiliency, and telling us they will find a cure when it is unlikely they will cure the common cold first.

This is here to stay, and all this authoritarian lock down is absolutely stupid.

I completely agree that the reaction to this virus is insane. Last time I looked the death rate in the UK was one in 1300 over a 3 or 4 month spell...90% of deaths were old people with pre-existent health issues...they should have been isolated , the rest of us get on with life whilst we adhere to sensible protocols (clean hands regularly, interact as little as possible etc )...that way we build herd immunity whilst saving the economy...though I've heard the theory that this virus came about just at the right time for the banks, but who knows?

The idea of creating herd immunity to SARS-Cov-2 by washing hands, avoiding interaction with others and all the other measures provides exactly the laugh one might need today.

Herd immunity by nobody catching it sure is a novel concept.:lamo

~ that way we build herd immunity whilst saving the economy... ~

Herd immunity... :lamo

Anyhow, the Swedes have lost a lot of the old people with pre-existing health issues and still going to tank their economy. Not as badly as we have though and we didn't do lockdown as seriously as the Spanish or Italians did.

~ the original outbreak may still be circulating.

Where China and honesty is concerned - anything goes.
