The One Question No Democrat On These Boards Can Answer

Because it’s not a requirement, and therefore an unnecessary waste of time.

Your faux outrage over this is really transparent, though, and duly noted.

This is so simple. Why is it so hard to understand?

If you have the power of the House behind you so this doesn't look like a personal claim, and have the votes to have an Impeachment Inquiry, you can present public evidence to the House and would gain support of voters to Impeach. Even if the Impeachment failed the Senate, you would be able to use the information made public during the election that would all but guarantee an election result for the Democrat party.

Bypassing the best opportunity the party has ever had to Impeach by having an Impeachment Inquiry confirmed using the power of the House means you are either stupid, or don't have the votes. All you do by bypassing the House is alienate voters to support your claims. And after 3 years of failed Impeachment claims this looks exactly what it is. No evidence to present and no votes to support.

Its Speaker Pelosis call, its her House. Looks like the GOP should have fought harder in 2018:lol:

After 3 years of failed Impeachment votes and failed Impeachment claims, You have a problem on your hands. This looks like another failed attempt to unseat a president. If you have the evidence to present to the House, and you have the power of the House vote, you gain support of the general public.

Bypassing the power of the House if you have the vote (which would give you the opportunity to expose your evidence and claims to the nation) is just stupid. Why would you do that?

Now you just have the speaker making her own claims and you will never get public support doing it this way. And if this fails, (Which it will) you have damaged the Democrat party for years to come by trying to unseat a president for personal reasons.

To keep the anti-Trump press (aka most of the MSM) at a fever pitch for as long as possible without anyone having to be "on the record" of accusing the POTUS of some (as yet unnamed?) crime(s). The steady drip, drip, drip of new and (ever more?) exciting "this is definitely it, for sure" accusations of "high crimes and misdemeanors" must not be allowed to end with the whimper of a Senate vote of "not guilty".

Oh please, Biden has zero to do with Trumps leaning on Ukraine. Tell us, do you think Trumps actions are ethical ?

See if you can answer with out diverting.

Perfect question and I have your answer.

The office of president has the power to investigate anyone he wants at his discretion. Did you think when Trump, Barr, and the DOJ released the call transcript showing Trump asking Zelenski to investigate Biden, they all just missed that part? All of them are just stupid but you know better?

Even after that transcript was released, and all Democrats are asking for Trumps head, Trump is asking China for the same thing.

So either Barr, the DOJ, and all of Trumps attorneys who released the call transcript with the request for Zelenski to investigate Biden are all just idiots, or you are not well informed as to the power of the office of president. Pretty simple.

Abuse of power--hence why we want him impeached. Pretty simple.

You just gave the exact reason why you wouldn't do this without the House support.

Do you know the law restricting canidates from asking for aid from foreign powers interference in our elections , why do Righties ignore that, oh ya because its going to earn President Trump Articles of Impeachment.

Look it up, its illegal !!

Problem is, you don't know what abuse of power is. You weren't asking for Obamas head on a platter when he was caught weaponizing the IRS against political enemies or when he was caught tapping phones of journalist he didn't like.

Seems to the public you only think there is an abuse of power when it suits you.

Thats a fake claim. If Trump was trying to get fake information on Biden to use against him in an election (Kind of like they did on Trump during an election) it would be illegal but running for office doesn't make you immune to criminal activities.

Again, if you had the vote you would have used it.

BS....proper protocol is what the Speaker says it is. Beyond the Speaker's prerogative there is no such thing as Proper Protocol.

Ultimately you get to hard an fast House Rules but how fast the House gets there and when and how is the business of House which in reality means its the business of the Speaker.

Oh and the whip count is now 227 plus one independent. SHE HAS THE VOTES. She won't be bullied on issues of process.

The democrats must now back off the Ukraine issue now that proof has surfaced that the DNC colluded with Russians in Ukraine to try to influence the 2016 election.

I would not vote for Trump as dog catcher, why he has no integrity.

1. More evidence is coming out at an alarming rate + the investigation hasn't had time to complete, so we don't know all the charges yet
2. Public opinion needs time to turn, putting more pressure on the Senate

Thats not an answer. You arent describing anything that wouldnt happen if the vote did occur.

There is a literal torrent of evidence coming out. Trump is self impeaching. His own admin are clowning him. And the ones defending him?

The same lot insisting everything is fake news, the media is evil propaganda, etc.

You guys are truly unbelievable at this point. More than one WB; on more than one topic. A torrent of negative information and shady dealings.

It's unpatriotic to sit here and ignore what has happened with him in the WH.

Your rant is not an answer to the question. Try again and focus this time.

True, but its all about timing. When is it the best time to bring charges politically? Right now polls are starting to move against Trump and he is just going out of control, which will further sour the public to him, putting additional pressure on the Senate.

Also, the investigations are not done, not all witnesses have testified.

I am content with waiting as right now, it bodes the best outcome for the House. -- remember this is a political process :)

We arent talking about bringing charges. We are talking about formalizing the investigation with a vote of the House.

There is no need to do that. Its not in the House bylaws.

No evidence to present and no votes to support.

At last count, 226 people in the House have put their support behind an impeachment inquiry, and behind Pelosi.

As a result, clearly, no vote is needed, nor is it required.

74% of Democrats and 45% of the country support the inquiry, so it doesn’t look like anybody is alienated except the 35% that will never support impeachment, or even censure, against Trump.

Not sure why this is so hard for you to understand.

It was done for both Nixon and Clinton. So back to the original question, why not do it?

Because she doesn't have to. This gives her more advantage

The two most important votes in the history of the House is going to war and Impeaching a president that overrides the election and the voters.

Proper protocol is the following

1. Evidence is provided to the House for an Impeachment Inquiry vote

2. If you get the votes, the evidence and vote is provided to Congress to investigate the claims, hold hearings, and depose witnesses.

3. Once the Investigation is completed and evidence collected, the House votes to Impeach and sends it to the Senate.

Pelosi didn't go to the House for an Impeachment Inquiry vote. She made the decision herself before she even knew whats in the WB complaint or reading the call transcript and did it on national TV.
Most of us know why she didn't go through the House. She didn't have the evidence she needed and she didn't have the vote.

So if you think she did have the vote, then you should be able to answer the following question.

Why would Pelosi decide not go through the House for an Impeachment Inquiry vote for one of the most important decisions you are asking Congress and the Senate to do which is remove an elected sitting president?

There is no requirement to have a vote to open an impeachment inquiry.

Not a Dem, but I answered your question.

Well, you arent thinking clearly. If you want conviction in the senate you will need to convince people other than the fringe kook left wing base. You wont achieve that with a partisan investigation. Which is exactly what you have now.

Nah. Lets just let the president keep spinning out. Lots of sources close to the senate say they are not comfortable and are weighing options.

Right. If all you are planning is a partisan witch hunt, there is no need for a vote. But if you are serious about removing a president, you will need significant bipartisan support. Taking a vote and opening the process to both sides will show that dems are serious and not playing politics. That they arent going to hold a vote means they arent serious.

Because it is not required, she chooses to avoid placing some of her caucus in a politically disadvantaged spot. Why doesn't Sen. McConnell bring up gun safety legislation approved of by about 90% of the US population.
