The NHL 2011-2012 Thread

I am not saying he is not a good player, but to compare, Crosby is looking for 10 years 90 million and he is a hell of a lot better player.

Crosby seems to have plateued, same with ovie... That said, a player is worth what someones willing to pay them, well except for Gomez.

Speaking of players being well played, now that the series is over, where do people think Parise will end up? I think he would look great with a winged wheel on his jersey, but I am biased.

Jersey.

Must suck to be Jack Johnson....had a chance to win the Cup with the Canes in '06 but wanted to stay in college (or so that was his reasoning)....and now......

I guess the Flyers love seeing Richards and Carter parading that cup around.

I bet they don't..... Seeing your cornerstone players getting it done on another team must sting those savages.

Why? He is still making way more money than he is worth.

He's worth what someones willing to pay him. His injury was obvious to everyone but deboer, who over used him and he became a liability. Deboer played as a masterful tactician against the Rangers and flyers, but seemed to regress back to a "steady as she goes" approach to the kings, almost cost him the panthers series, and helped cost the devils the cup.

I'm glad the Devils fought back to take it to game 6, I thought it would be over in 4. That said it's a shame an abnormal call in a playoff game and a ref intefering with a player accidentally would count so much towards a stanley cup win.

No DVR. "Very little" as he had hold of his helmet and was twisting it.

Congratz LA! It is kinda nice seeing a Sutter brother still helping win a cup.

Whay kind of ludite has no dvr?

It was nothing different than schnieders falling into the game, neither player tried to "rip" a goalies head off. It's part of the game to try to get into the goalies head. Brown did it in game 1, and it happened on both sides throughout the series, only one misconduct called.

Crosby has plateued a hell of a lot higher than Kovalchuck.

Is he going to give NJ a discount? Otherwise there are other teams that have more money to spend with fewer holes to fill. Look at that link I gave, NJ has a ****load of UFA/RFA players this year and next.

I'm not too into the numbers, more about the game, strategy, and how it's played. But he's expressed desire to stay in Jersey, so, until I hear different, I'll assume thats what his intentions are.

UFAs as of July 1:
Parise
Ponikarovsky
Carter
Sykora
Janssen
Bernier
Gianta
Salvador
Harrold
Bordeur
Hedberg

Signed past that: 8 forwards(of those 5 are UFAs next year, 2 RFAs) and 5 defensemen(1 UFA next year). They have 28 mil to sign about 9 players for a full roster and have to start work on getting a couple of next year's UFA's deals. Parise will take probably at least 8 mil of that cap space and leave alot less flexibility.

Yeah that's what Kovy said here, and you know how that played out.

Atlanta was never a perpetual cup contender like NJ. That's the difference.

No, the difference was that he knew the ownership was crap and wanted out, and didn't want to play in cold ass Winnipeg, or Quebec.

We should get together and do everything in our power to make sure Pitt, NYC, and Philly does not get the cup again.

New Jersey f'n sucks. I went to see one of those Devils vs. Kings game in Newark....that place should be burned to the ground and bulldozed under. Move them to Atlanta.

Fixed ;)
...

It's a shame the attendance is so bad in NJ. Good thing they went far in the playoffs.

Every playoff game was sold out. Devils had more sell outs this year than any year in the past.

They have reitalized downtown newark and the arena is in the top 20 most profitable arenas in the country or world (i have to re look that up)

Didnt the habs declare bankruptcy? Maybe redress can post financial "hockey talk" on that..... :ssst:

Why would you say that? State of the art arena, passionate fans. Great area to see a game.... One of the most succesful teams in the nhl....

In nj we actually cheer for our team.

Which game did you go to, and what section did you sit in? O.o

Could we get a better team, like say....Columbus?

It's funny watching your emotional hatred of the Devils? Does it stem all the way back to 1995?

So what? Pheonix sold out all their games too. It does not negate the fact that throughout the season, the attendence was poor. I am not sure why you are arguing this outright fact.

So? Is this suppose to increase the attendence?

Not that I am aware. Habs sucked **** all season long but had the second best attendence in the league. New Jersey lagged far behind, in the 24th spot.
