Ladies this thread is for guys. Included in this discussion are guys, trans men, and even women that find they need to shave facial hair.

BACKGROUND:
I started shaving in the late 70’s and my Dad used “Safety Razor” and even he came down the stairs sometimes in the morning with the obligatory toilet paper spot with a red dot in the middle. The first time he taught me to shave with his razor and a fresh blade I thought we were going to have to call the Emergency Squad to see if they could bring a bag of blood. It was ugly.
So, I began using “Bic” disposable razors, got the job done and I didn’t blead near as much. Stayed with them my whole life. A few months ago I was watching something on YouTube and an inline ad played from the sponsor and it was from a company making modern safety razors. I forgot about it for about a week, then thought let me check it out.
So some numbers. Disposable razors can run from about $0.75 for the cheapy double blade to $3.50 each for 5-blade cartridge heads that clip into more substantial handles. For a razor that lasts a week that is $39 to $182 per year.
Disposables are OK, but multi blade disposables/cartridges clog so you rinse, rinse, rinse and then bang it on the side of the sink to try to smack out the offending cream and whiskers.
CHOSING A NEW RAZOR
So I researched modern safety razors and shaving and learned a lot. Not only did I visit “sponsored” sites, I check review sites and even watch videos from independent people (just regular guys) about the saving process.
Safety razors can run cheap at less than $50 and high-end ones can run #275.
I settled on the Henson AL-13 as a machined aluminum razor with medium aggressive exposure of the blade. The affascinato talk about using bar soap, a brush, yada, yada. I just coupled it with Harry’s Shaving Cream.
I’m telling y’all I wasted a lot of years. I’ve used it for about a month now and it provide an outstanding shave. The reason is that blade is actually clamped under pressure an so there is not “wiggle” in the blade. Multi-blade disposables the cutting blade is mounted in plastic and will wobble during the shave. In addition, with a simple slip under running water the cream and whiskers rinse out very easily, not tapping on the side of the sink.
The save it the best shave of my life and a shave with the grain and then a run against the grain produces a baby butt smooth shave that last all day long with no 5-O’Clock shadow.
Blades run $0.15 a piece so at 1 a week for a year cost is $7.80 a year compared to $39 to $182 a year.

I just got it for face and does well. The rest of me just grows wild.
